Akpabio’s administration has redefined Akwa Ibom people – Umanah

Countdown to the transition of Governor Godswill Akpabio in office as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Deacon Aniekan Umanah has described the Governor Godswill Akpabio – led administration as a people-focused administration that has changed the landscape of the state and redefined her people to become more relevant in the politics and economy of the country.

He made this assertion during an interactive session with journalists on Sunday at the NUJ Secretariat, Uyo.  Umanah stressed that Akpabio’s eight years administration has brought to the fore amazing and remarkable accomplishments in all sectors and encapsulated into what has been generally referred to as the uncommon transformation of our dear state.

Deacon Umanah further highlighted some of the uncommon transformation strides of Governor Godswill Akpabio’s administration which according to him “has been made possible by channeling the resources of the state to areas of critical needs such as education, infrastructural development, rural development, electricity and power, as well as human capital development.
He stated that the outgoing administration has earmarked life-touching projects numbering over 165 which will be of immense benefit to the people of the state.  The projects which are set for inauguration before May 29 are located at College of Education, Afaha Nsit; Eyofin-Udung Uko; Oron; Uquo; Eket, Abat in Onna; Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat Enin, Government House Grounds, etc.

He commended journalists in the state for their unwavering support to the outgoing administration of Governor Akpabio and solicited same level of support and cooperation to the incoming government of Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, adding that “no government can succeed without the support of the people.”

In his reaction, the state chairman of NUJ, Mr. Patrick Albert while lauding the information and communication commissioner for always acquainting the press with government itinerary, said that the governor has done his part within his eight years of administration, and urged others to emulate his strides and perform even more.
Meanwhile, programs and activitie
s lined up for the smooth transition to the incoming administration kicked-off on Saturday, May 16 with inauguration of some projects, and will climax in the handing over of Governor Godswill Akpabio’s administration to the Udom Gabriel Emmanuel Government on May 29th, 2015 at the Akwa Ibom State International Stadium in Uyo.
