Akwa Ibom State College of Education graduates 3000

The Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit last Saturday graduated a total of 3000 students of the institution in a well attended 6th combined convocation ceremony of the institution held at the main bowl of the institution, Etinan.

The provost of the institution Dr. Patrick Uko in his address congratulated the graduating students and urged them to be good ambassadors of the school; He reminded the students that they should see themselves as role models of the citadel of learning in their entire endeavors in life.

Dr. Uko applauded the state government for ensuring that the institution is not found wanting, he listed the projects executed by the Gov. Akpabio to include, accreditation of courses, erecting of perimeter fence, renovation of administrative blocks and provision of standard convince block for use by the students. He also used the occasion to inform the general public that the institution has been upgraded to a degree awarding institution with collaboration with the University of Uyo.

The Executive Governor of the state, Chief Dr. Goodswill Akpabio at the occasion announced automatic employment and scholarship to the best graduating student, Miss Ruth Christopher; the governor described Miss Ruth as a model of what the school represents.  Governor Akpabio also promised to construct all the internal roads in the with good drainage system. He approved the employment of new lecturers to consolidate the present teaching staff.


The governor letter commissioned a new administrative block which is reader for use by staff of the institution.

Some of the graduating students that spoke with THE INK expressed joy and happiness to God for making them to be alive to the see the day which many of them described as a dream come true.

Christian Odoi, said the ceremony was just a step forward for him and thanked all the lecturers, friends and colleagues who stood by him during his stay in the school. He commended the management of the school for making them who they are in life. He further thanked the governor of the state Chief Godswill Akpabio for ensuring the accreditation of courses in the institution.

On his part, Otobong Ekwere a graduate of Economics and Political science, said, “it is one of the most important days in my life, in fact it’s been God, I am happy that I am alive to witness today”. 

He also thanked the provost for his numerous achievements since he took over the leadership of the institution.
