Uduyok dedicates poll victory to God’s will …pledges effective representation
The member-elect for  Ikot Abasi Federal  Constituency, Rt. Hon. Francis Charles Uduyok has credited his triumph in the House of Representatives race to God even as he promised to reciprocate the faith of the electorates by giving them quality and purpose-driven representation.

The newly elected MP, who was speaking at the Obolo Hall, Eastern Obolo Local Government Area during an interdenominational service held to offer thanks to God for the victory, stated that the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency are set to experience a massive turn around in their fortunes as he is ready to attract dividends of democracy to the area.

He said the victory would not have been possible without the role played by clerics who interceded fervently for the ambition to come to fruition, and promised to continue making them key partners in his political careers.

While noting that his victory is divine, as he was viewed as an underdog in the contest, Uduyok, who is currently the Executive Chairman of Eastern Obolo LGA, commended members of his cabinet as well as staff of the council for their support.

Also speaking, Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Ukomkpa Bernard Okonko noted that he was never in doubt that his Uduyok would emerge successful in the House of Reps contest. He described him as a perfect colleague who is ready to salvage the constituency by making it a reference point in the country.

Hon. Okonko thanked the MP for the opportunity he was granted to serve in the cabinet, and expressed optimism that he would not disappoint as he is ready to resume duties as Acting Chairman of the council.

In his remarks, Hon. Sampson Unyeawaji, who is the chapter chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Eastern Obolo, described the event as significant, and described the MP as a God fearing and people oriented leader.
He said, with individuals like Hon. Uduyok, the PDP is set to experience a rebirth at the national level.

The Chairman, Eastern Obolo Elders Forum, Sir Levi Uzono expressed gratitude to God for making him witness the day, and assured the people that their fortunes have changed via the victory of  Rt. Hon. Uduyok.
Deaconess Nnena Franklyn, PDP Women Leader for Eastern Obolo LGA, also thanked God for the victory, and stated that God used women as prominent tools in ensuring the mandate was delivered.

While assuring the MP of the continued support of the women folk, she stressed that, if given opportunity, women can offer tangible contribution in political administrations.

Others speakers spoke glowingly about Rt. Hon. Uduyok and urged him to remain focused even as he assumes a higher political assignment.
The event which was held in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Eastern Obolo chapter featured exhortation, praise and worship sessions, song rendition by the council choir, testimonies and prayer for the celebrant.

In a brief interaction with journalists after the event, Rt. Hon. Uduyok stated that though he has been humbled by the confidence reposed in him, he is ready to use the mandate in offering people oriented representation. He also called on those he defeated to accept defeat and support him in the project of charting a new course for Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency.

While decrying the fact that the PDP has fallen from its perch as the largest political party in Africa, he revealed that in the National Assembly, PDP legislators would form a very strong and viable opposition to resist any attempt to intimidate the party.
