Gloria Useh buries Dad, Friday
Death is announced  of a community  leader and devout Christian of Ikot Offiong Village, Afaha Ikot Ebak, late Mr. Sunday Ekanem Bassey at the age of 70. This is contained in a family statement jointly signed by the chief mourner, Deacon Udeme Sunday Ekanem and the eldest daughter, Obonganwan Gloria Useh, the Executive chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council.

According to the statement, Late Mr. Sunday Ekanem Bassey was born in 1945 to the families of Late Mr. Ekanem Abasiumoh of Ikot Offiong, Afaha Ikot Ebak, Essien Udim LGA. He attended Methodist Primary School, Afaha Ikot Ebak and obtained his standard six certificate in 1995.
He later enrolled in Cambridge College long distance education, Kaduna in 1967. He was enrolled into the Nigeria Army in 1969 and served in various army departments until he resigned from the Military in 1980. The Late Ekanem was a building contractor and later joined the Timber Trading Company as a timber dealer.

The funeral statement indicates that Late Mr. Sunday Ekanem will be laid to rest on Friday 8th May, 2015 at deceased residence after a funeral service to be conducted by the Deeper Life Bible church, Afaha Ikot Ebak. This will be preceded by a novelty football match on Wednesday 6th May, 2015 at 4pm between Ebacos versus Young Stars at Primary school, Afaha Ikot Ebak. Friends’ night is slated for Thursday, May 7 by 7pm at Obonganwan Gloria Useh’s residence at GRA Ikot Ekpene.

The Late Mr. Sunday Ekanem is survived by six children and a host of other relations including Obonganwan Gloria Useh, Chairman Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Deacon Udeme Sunday Ekanem, Mrs. Imo E. Jumbo, Mr. Udo Sunday Ekanem and Mr. Kufre Sunday Ekanem.
