The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, has commended outgoing Batch ‘B’ corps members, who served in the Ministry, for diligence and hard work during their service year.
He made the commendation at the maiden edition of the Commissioner’s NYSC Best Performance Awards instituted by the Ministry, held on 6th June, 2014, at the Conference room of the Ministry.

Mr Umanah, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Emmanuel Asanga, observed that all the corps members, who served in the Ministry, hard done well, but the recipients of the Commissioner’s awards, had gone the extra mile in the performance of their duties.
The Commissioner expressed the conviction that the corps members would be returning to their states of origin with fond memories of Akwa Ibom State, which he described as the home of hospitality, where dividends of democracy being delivered by Governor Godswill Akpabio were positively affecting the citizenry and residents alike.
Speaking specifically on the emergence of the winners of the awards, Umanah said that they succeeded because they worked harder than most of their other colleagues, submitting that hard work and experience had not yet become old-fashioned. While urging the non-winners not to be discouraged, by challenged by the victory of their colleagues, the Commissioner advised the winners not to become complacent, as their success was a call to higher performance in their future endeavours.
The first place award was won by Miss Janet Udogu Chinwendu, a graduate of English and Literature from Abia State University; the second by Mr. Chollom Istifanus, a graduate of Mass Communications from the University of Jos; while Miss Yabo Joseph, a graduate of Information and Communication Technology from Modibo Adama University of Technology, Yola, won the third place prize.
Responding on behalf of his co-winners, Miss Chinwendu expressed gratitude to the Information boss for instituting the award. She thanked the Ministry for the love and care she enjoyed during her service year, and eulogized the State Government’s Uncommon Transformation Agenda, which she said had placed the State in a high pedestal among community of States in the country.
The prizes were a plaque, commendation letter and cash for each of the winners.
