If and when he’s voted into office as governor next year, Dr Effiong Assam Ntekim has promised Akwa Ibom people a complete economic revival in addition to constructing for the people a befitting refinery and formation of an oil company to be wholly managed by the indigenes.
Speaking recently in a popular Planet FM Radio live chat programme-‘Breakfast chat’, the renowned Mechanical Engineer and seasoned politician said that the state was blessed with abundant natural resources to make her an Eldorado but sadly, the reverse is the case as poverty has ravaged her people unjustifiably.
Consequently, Dr Ntekim promised to evolve measures that would afford a meaningful existence to every Akwa Ibom son and daughter saying “as a strong believer in industrialization, egalitarianism and justice, I will rid the state of malfeasance and corrupt tendencies as well as attempt to bring order back to bud.”
Hear him, “I’ll use public funds for the good of all. I believe that Akwa Ibom deserves an oil company alongside a functional refinery-wholly owned and managed by the indigenous people.
“Iam a trained Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years post experience in the oil and gas industry. I have the necessary contacts and a rich reach to attract support that can change the economic index of this state as well as reposition this great state as one of the very best in Nigeria overall.” He’d said.
Continuing, Engineer Ntekim averred that the three senatorial districts have oil and other mineral resources and therefore has no basic excuse for the current lack, poverty and unemployment currently ravaging the state, given the state’s rich natural resources base.
The internationally recognised oil magnet adduced the current situation to lack of leadership commitment to addressing the basic needs of the state and urged the people to give him the chance come 2015 to address the needs of the state, turn around the standard of living of the people and create the enabling environment for the people to thrive economically and socially.
Again, Ntekim who said his advent at this time is a divine arrangement, acknowledged the industrialization foundation laid by former governor Obong Victor Attah, especially in the areas of specialised university of technology, the science park and the industrialization, which sadly he regretted that these things unfortunately are today not built upon by this administration and promised to make them bud again when he assumes office as the next governor in May 29, 2015.
The aspirant said of Ibaka
Deep Sea: “currently, it is being spoken of but I hope to make it an international business hub with super tankers and hangers for Akwa Ibomites to avail themselves of how international businesses are conducted, “the cerebral business mogul stressed.
The Politician for the umpteenth time reiterated the determination of his government when elected to office to transform both business and economic life of the state people and galvanise his contacts to begin the ground work on the refinery and the Akwa Ibom State wholly owned Oil Company to which he is an expert in.

A caller to the programme, who identified himself as Uduak Akpabio, urged Dr Ntekim to on assumption of office in 2015 cause legislation that would prevent Shell petroleum development company of Nigeria from further sale of oil wells belonging to Akwa Ibom State to non-indigenous people and foreign oil companies as is the practice today.
He also suggested that when Ntekim finally takes over as governor of the state next year, the proposed oil company be called ‘Akwa Ibom Petroleum Development Company (AKPDC).
Responding, the aspirant promised to tackle assiduously the issue as soon as he assumes office next year, as he would use his office to tap into the abundant natural resources abounding through the state’s three senatorial districts for the overall good of the people.
