Annang Peoples Assembly visits tourism commissioner

The state commissioner for culture and Tourism Mr. Ita Udo Friday last week played host to the leadership and members of Annang Peoples Assembly with a charge on the organization and its members to continue supporting the present administration led by the Governor Chief Godswill Akpabio.

During the courtesy visit, the National President of Annang Peoples Assembly Obong Anietie Idiong in his speech eulogized the State Governor Godswill Akpabio describing him as a man of the people and a leader that is currently doing the biddings of Akwa Ibom people at home and in the diaspora. He commended the state commissioner for Tourism Mr. Ita Udo for what they described as the commissioner’s unending effort in ensuring that he adds more energy to the duties expected of his office.

Obong Idiong said, Ita Udo and some other colleagues in the state Executive council are worthy and true disciples of the uncommon transformation in the state as being led by the state Governor Godswill Akpabio. The Annang Peoples Assembly leader went down memory lane were he informed of when the group was formed and the achievements of the body so far.
He cited some of the aims and objectives of the group to include promotion of the cultural values of Annang kingdom, supporting the goodwill of an Annang person for the good of the state and its development amongst others. He informed of the numerical strength of the Assembly and added that the organization has touched so many lives so far. The group also informed the Tourism commissioner that it will be hosting its annual conference in about two weeks from now precisely on the 27th of June 2014 and solicited the commissioners backing towards a fruitful event.

In his response, Ita Udoh expressed delight over the visit. He commended the body for always assisting government in terms of promoting the cultural values of the state, he described them as worthy Ambassadors of the state and also urged them to continue in doing what is right in the eyes of members of the public as the commissioner also noted that some persons and organizations are looking up to the Annang Assembly as a role model. He described the Annang Peoples Assembly as a long standing organization that has stood the test of time. He promised to support the group to get to the heights it so dreamt of. The Hon Commissioner also solicited the group’s support to the state Chief Executive Godswill Akpabio calling on them to not relent in supporting Government activities.

In a related development, the Annang Assembly says it has resolved to partner with another socio cultural group in Annang land the Ati Annag to ensure that the Governor gets a safe landing by 2015. In a release signed by the National President of the body Obong Aniebiet Idiong, the group said the decision was reached before the courtesy visit that the group paid to the state commissioner for Tourism Mr. Ita Umo Udo.

Anietie Idiong in his release observed that it is the determination of the Assembly to work hand in hand with Ati Annang so that together they will help the Governor, Godswill Akpabio to land well come 2015. He also pledged his group’s readiness to ensure that they identify some progress minded commissioners and work with them towards actualizing the dreams of giving Akpabio a well landing come 2015.
