UNIUYO: History department gets new leaders BY NSISONG AFANGIDEH

The members of “STUDENTS HISTORICAL AND DIPLOMATIC SOCIETY OF NIGERIA (SHDSN)” were involved in an election on Friday 13th June to decide who to handle the mantle of leadership in the 2013/2014 school session.

The election which took place in the town campus of University of Uyo saw a great number of students from the department of history, the turn out in great number to select their new executives.

The election was absolutely free and transparent without any form of chaos. It started by around 10am and ended around 3pm.

However, 15 offices were vacant but only three of the 15 had two contestants contesting for it. The rest of the offices were unopposed.


The offices that the election held for were; office of the Secretary General: Mkpoikanabasi Charles 74 votes and Eyo, Ofonime Edet 150 votes. (Elect). Office of the Financial Secretary: Odenigbo, Chioma 165 votes. (Elect) and Etim, Kentiabasi Edem 59 votes. In the office of Director of Information: Ukpeye, Inemesit S. 80 votes and George Chibueze 150 votes (elect).

In other offices which were unopposed is the office of the president; Essien, Edidiong E., Vice-President: Orok, Angelica, Asst. Sec. Gen. Udo, Aniebiet Enefiok, Dir. Of Social: Jones Seidogha, Welfare Officer; Okon, Akaniyene Udo, Dir. Of Sport; Akpan, Donatus Justin, Auditor Gen. Ekpo, Esther Ubahamfon/ Treasurer Emorgor, Judith E. and the office of the P.R.O. Archibong, Remedy.

The eleco chairman; Charlie Elijah who sang songs of victory to the winners congratulating them for the success and also commence his colleagues for turning out in numbers to grace the election and for voting their respective candidates peacefully without any form of quagmire

The election was supervised by a student affairs representative, a security representative, a P.C.I. representative, the eleco chair, the eleco secretary and the staff adviser who all endorses the result and pass for valid
