Barr. Dan Abia Jnr and his empowerment

Barr. Dan Abia Jnr and his empowerment
The member representing the people of Eket Federal Constituency in the green chambers of the National Assembly has not only lived up to the expectations of his people but has redefined effective representation and governance within his short stay in office.

The people of Eket Federal constituency have never had it better than now, within his few years in office Barr Dan Abia jnr. has rewarded his people for the love and confidence they reposed in him by standing by him throughout the period he fought back his mandate. His recent empowerment programme has continued to form the topic for public discourse especially for close admirers of his purposeful and effective representation.

During his last set of empowerment programme, Hon. Dan Abia jnr dolled out many items ranging from Cars, motorcycles, sewing machines and other items which have gone a long way in changing the lives and fortunes of the beneficiaries for good.

The Federal Lawmaker demonstrated his deep love and respect for his people when he sent a strong delegation to the family of late Mr. Emmanuel Udo Ikpe who was the ward chairman of PDP Odiong west ward 2 when Hon. Dan Abia was contesting for the ticket to represent the constituency in the Federal House of Assembly.

The delegation was led by the former chapter chairman of PDP Onna, Prince Godwin Sunday Ben (Black), the senior Legislative aide to the lawmaker Joe Akpaette and other supporters of the Hon. Dan Abia Jnr said Dan Abia’s intervention in that family was a testimony to the fact that he has not forgotten the family of the late politician.

The visit was a great surprise to the father and mother of the deceased who are still alive but are advanced in age. The team arrived the compound and presented a new motorcycle and mouth watering cash to the family of the late ward chairman. In his response, the father of the deceased Chief Udo Ikpe expressed surprise at the gesture of the lawmaker and prayed God to bless him. Chief Udo Ikpe also pleaded with the good people of the Federal constituency to please give Hon Dan Abia Jnr. time to complete his effective representation by electing him again in 2015 to represent them in the green chambers.

The mother of the deceased who is in her late 70’s said the visit has brought back the pains of her son’s death and added also that gift will go a long way in boasting their economic well being which will move towards relieving them of the pains. She also prayed God to bless the Eket National Assembly man.
What this gesture signifies is that Hon. Dan Abia does not operate on the basis of using and dumping people. At all times, he remembers his supporters and pays serious and active attention to their problems and needs.

Also worthy of note is the fact that his empowerment programmes has been able to alleviate the yearnings of his supporter across the Federal constituency and has also added and helped in creating self employment for the already vast populated level of unemployment in the state.

During the visit to the family of late ward chairman, one thing was glaring and that was the fact that the parents of the decease were very happy not that the item was in any way equivalent to their son or atone for the death of their offspring but the action of Barr. Abia was able to put a smile on their face. Just like one of the family member who was present during the visit noted. The kind gesture by the lawmaker is very rear in today’s Nigeria. The family member had said.

During one of his Empowerment programmes, Barr Dan Abia Jnr. purchased brand new SUV’s to some chapter chairmen in the federal constituency and today most of them are proud owners of cars. This great leader and lawmaker have continued to offer effective representation to his people by taking active part in the activities of the parliament.

His empowerment programmes does not start and end with politicians, he has also extended his goodwill to other members of the society, the market women, students, traditional rulers and the elderly people in society have all been beneficiaries of his empowerment programmes.

Aside the items presented to the family of late Mr. Emmanuel Udo Ikpe, other people who benefited from the benevolence of the lawmaker includes Deacon Urua Akpe who got a Toyota camry car, Hon. John Akpan also went home with a Toyota Camry car.

Others were, Hon John Akpe, who was presented with a motor cycle, Emman Otu a motor cycle, Victor Ekereuwem Grinding machine and Mrs. Mary Moses went home with a sewing machine amongst others.
The beauty of his empowerment programme is that he has been able to touch the lives of his supporters and the multiplier effects is that there is food on the tables of many who had hitherto had no source of income. Dan Abia had not only given his people fish but has also taught them how to fish. Indeed he has kept to his promises of not betraying the mandate that his people have given to him.

Before this time, Abia had touched the lives of the serving Chairman of the Esit Eket Chapter of the PDP. He had donated a brand new Toyota Camry car to the party boss. Dan Abia has promised that he will continue in the empowerment of members of his constituency and that he believes in the principle of feasible leadership and representation. His services to the people had broken a jinx of representation in the area and politicians have all been urged to toe the path of Abia who is fast carving a niche for himself.
