Ekpoattai: Good for the House of Reps.

Deaconess Owoidighe Ekpoattai
There has been some noise in Eket federal constituency that the winner of the recently concluded PDP House of Representatives nomination for the Area, Deaconess Owoidighe Ekpoattai has been substituted for Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.

This information had gone round like wild fire that yours faithfully sought to know the real situation of things. Those who are contemplating this kind of action are not fair to the people of Eket federal constituency. The story line is that the House of Representatives position for the federal constituency is meant to rotate within the four components local Governments that make up the federal constituency.

Eket set the pace with Chief Nduese Essien as the beneficiary. He stayed in the National Assembly for eight years. He was succeeded by Eseme Eyiboh from Esit Eket who stayed for about five years before the court sacked him and installed Dan Abia of Esit Eket who only went to complete the turn of Esit Eket.

Now, in this dispensation, it was the turn of Onna to pick the gauntlet and the people saw Deaconess Ekpoattai as the right person for the job. She emerged against all odds and the PDP as well as the federal constituency was happy. The argument that Ekpoattai would be substituted for Eseme or any other person for that matter is too fake to be real. Those who are peddling this rumour are positing that since the PDP are likely going to settle for Udom, then Onna cannot have a Governor and a House of Representatives ticket in the PDP.

Let me quickly add here that the PDP is yet to settle on who will fly their flag. And in any case even if they settle on Udom, Ekpoattai should not be substituted for anybody. She won her election green and clear and so whoever is not comfortable with that can go to another party and try out his popularity. Robbing Peter to Pay Paul should not be identified in the politics of Eket federal constituency. We have come of age in our federal constituency to always set the pace for Akwa Ibomites to follow. Eket will flow with Mma Ekpoattai, let her victory be
