APC candidate fetes constituents

APC candidate fetes constituents
In the spirit of yuletide, the All Progressives  Congress (APC) candidate in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency, Deacon Eshiet Amos Offiong last Wednesday provided rice and cash to all the wards in the Federal constituency. Speaking at the event Offiong said it was an expression of love to the people who have been lagging behind effective representation for sometime now. He charged the people to abide by the spirit of unity and equity which have been keeping the people together.

At Ikot Ibritam, headquarters of Oruk Anam LGA, Mr. Offiong stated that as a grandson of the area he would not deceive or disappoint them in the discharge of his functions if elected to the red chamber. He promised to provide effective representation, selfless service, accountability, integrity, efficiency and transparency. The candidate emphasized that his tenure is going to be a period of positive change, describing service to the people as sacrifice, adding that he would make optimal use of the opportunity to improve the lots of the people.

A political stalwart in the area, Chief Okon Jonah Okure thanked Mr. Offiong for the lifeline provided to the people who are drowning in abject poverty, stating that they have suffered in perennial penury even when they had invested their votes severally. He assured the APC candidate that as their grandson he could count on their co-operation.

A former secretary of Oruk Anam LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Udom said justice and equity are on the side of the candidate as zoning has never been sacrificed by the people even as Offiong has a good starting by expressing undiluted love during the yuletide which would help to spread the gospel of equity.

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Udeme Okoro thanked the candidate for the expression of love which is a sign of good things to come. He stressed that the people of Oruk Anam are aggrieved by an attempt to impose second term in the federal constituency, describing it as unacceptable and undemocratic. Dr. Okoro expressed optimism that the spirit of 2003 which saw Hon. Ubong Etiebet of ANPP through would be exhumed in next year’s general election as zoning cannot be sacrificed on the altar of selfish ambition, describing the people’s votes as their weapon.

A youth leader in the area, Mr. Otobong Akai gave an assurance that Mr. Offiong can count on Oruk Anam people who are not ready to sacrifice zoning which has been in practice since the emergence of this democratic dispensation.

At government primary school, Ikot Effiong which the 11 (eleven) wards of Ukanafun received their yuletide gifts, the former deputy speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Obong Okon Uwah said the people should close ranks and support Mr. Offiong irrespective of political parties they belong as zoning has been a known practice among the people.

Barr. Ndipouwem Umoh stated that zoning has been the signature formula of the federal constituency, adding that it would not be sacrifice for any selfish ambition. He called for support from the people of the federal constituency for the desirable result.

A former chairman of Ukanafun LGA, Hon. Uduak Essien thanked the APC House of Representatives candidate for the gesture, saying that the election of Mr. Effiong is a done deal, just as he called for teamwork among Ukanafun to ensure that the battle is fought and won.
