Akpabio forwards Nwoko’s name to AKHA for clearance

BY EMMANUEL AKPAN

The State Governor, Chief Godswill  Akpabio has forwarded Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko’s name to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for screening as well as clearance for the appointment into the office as Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice in the State.

Reading Akpabio’s letter by the clerk, Mrs. Mandu Umoren to AKHA members, the governor said forwarding Barr. Nwoko’s name to the House of Assembly for confirmation was in line with the 1999 constitution as amended.

Receiving the letter, the AKHA Speaker, Elder Sam Ikon instructed the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Right and Public Petition which is headed by Barr. Ekong Sampson to ensure the necessary screening take place, and after which present the report to the House on Tuesday 23, December, 2014, during plenary session.

Ikon urged the committee members to treat the screening as urgent; adding that the State cannot sign nor do any further contract without the signature of the State Attorney General.

It could be recalled that the immediate past Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Ekpenyong Ntekim resigned recently to contest the Governorship position in the state.
