Ebana youths inaugurate new exco

The youths of Ebana Community in Eket Local Government Area under the umbrella of “Ebana Youth Development Association” over the weekend inaugurated a new executive body amidst celebration, the village having remained for years without an organized youth system.

The 9 member youth executive council were sworn into office by Barrister (Mrs.) Florence Uyoata Sampson of “The Shepherd’s Chambers” witnessed by over five thousand mixed crowd of Chiefs, women, security personnel and cultural troupes.
Speaking, the Village Head of Ebana, Chief Emmanuel Eshiet said the event calls for celebration because of the Lacuna created by power tussle over the years in youth affairs of the Community, bedeviling development.

The Royal father gave a historical run down of what transpired the tussle, conflict of personal interest and the eventual intervention by the village council through the assistance of the Commissioner of Police and other Law enforcement agencies for peace to reign among the youths.

He admonished the in-coming youth executive to carry every youth along in every issue and to create programmes and activities that will bring about lasting peace and development of the community. 

Also speaking, the village Chairman, Obong Anietie William said that the present youth executive should guide themselves with the constitution of the Association so as to avoid the mistake of the former executive, adding that the tenure is for two years which must be strictly adhered to.

Those sworn into office for a two year term are, Mr. Daniel Sunday Jimmy, leader, Frank Sunday Akanimoh, Assistant Youth leader, Michael Okon Eshiet, Secretary General, Bassey Monday Akanimo, Treasurer, Joseph Monday Tommy, Auditor General, Jackson Ekpe Jonah, P.R.O, Felix Emmanuel Eshiet, Provost Marshal, Imo Peter Tom, Welfare Officer and Victor Tom Robert, Financial Secretary.

Present during the event includes: Chief Emmanuel Eshiet, Village Head, Obong Anietie William, Village Chairman, Chief Friday Edoho, Chief Monday Jimmy, Chief Akpan Warrie Edoho (Peaceman) Chief Augustus Monday, Mr. Sunday Jonah, Chief Monday Henry, Chief Monday Tommy Nssien, Chief O. S. Mkpongoyong, the D.P.O Eket and Mr. Anietie Uko Robert among others.
