Akwa Ibom APC in electoral fraud * Dan Akpan’s #500k may crumble opposition party

The relative peace that  has always been  known in the opposition All Progressive Congress of Nigeria, APC in Akwa Ibom state is gradually fading off following the membership of some PDP bad eggs like Obong Dan Akpan who is coming with an intention to pollute the party with some anti democratic tendencies especially as related to the position of Etinan federal constituency 2015.

A source hinted our reporter that after the failure of Dan Akpan’s stooge a certain Uwem Udo who contested against Thomas Thomas for the candidature of the APC, Dan Akpan alongside some other stakeholders of the party have been meeting behind the scenes and planning strategies in order to deny Thomas the ticket for Akpan who is yet to even resign his membership of the PDP. THE INK learnt from very reliable sources that the Nsit Ubium born Dan Akpan was responsible for the ambition of Uwem Udo his close personal aide. It was gathered that Udo was to be substituted for Akpan in the event he had won Thomas Thomas.

However, our reporter was informed that after Udo lost woefully to Thomas, Dan Akpan had not been himself any longer. He is said to be instigating back door meetings with some leaders of the party with Obong Emman Obot leading the mission to spoil the APC in Akwa Ibom state with a view to persuading and convincing members of the party to short change Thomas. Credible sources informed that the party’s flagbearer for the forthcoming gubernatorial election, Obong Umana Okon Umana has been put in the dark in this regard. It was gathered that Mr. Umana had consistently informed that fair play and justice must be the watchword of the party.

Meanwhile, Dan Akpan who is currently the member representing Etinan federal constituency at the green chambers of the National Assembly is going with the sentiments that since his election will be conducted before that of the Governorship, he will enjoy the benefits and the sentiments of the people who will be voting for the party hoping that they are voting for Umana. He is said to be paying a whooping five hundred thousand naira each to party Elders who are willing to do his biddings.

This action our reporter learnt has seriously created problems in the rank and file of the APC with some opposing the move to short change the Global Concord Editor. But Dan Akpan who is said to be hinting that he has more financial war chest than Thomas to execute the election has been warned by some youths of Etinan federal constituency that he should desist from attempting to shortchange or cause a shortchange of Thomas. The youths under the ageis of Etinan Federal Constituency Mobilization Movement spoke through their coordinator Ubong Esema. Esema noted that political positions are not given to persons with big financial chest but to people that will use such office to better the lots of their people. He said, Dan Akpan’s representation at the National Assembly has been zero. He wondered why the Nsit Ubium born lawmaker will allow himself to be used against a correct electoral process that saw Thomas emerged in a clean and clear contest. They however warned that any attempt to short change Thomas will meet very stiff opposition from them and that if the party goes ahead to drop the name of Thomas and replace it with another, they will be left with no other option than to work against the Party. “if they drop Thomas for any other person, we will stay in the party and cause problems for it”, they threatened.

Emman Obot, our reporter gathered has been meeting with some persons from the party and calling on them to short change Thomas for Dan Akpan. Emman Obot has however been warned by some youths of the party to desist from such acts as it will be resisted by them wholesale. Youths of the party has called on the Emman Obot to look at the affairs of Uyo federal constituency were he hails and stop forthwith the distractions he is creating in Etinan federal constituency.

To ascertain why Dan Akpan is moving against the electoral guidelines and why he wants the seat of Thomas, the lawmaker did not respond to a text message sent to his phone. His numbers known to our reporter refused to connect as it kept saying diverting and unavailable till this paper went to bed last night. And Emman Obot did not respond to his calls as at press time.
