On Sunday, December 28, 2014, old students who got admission into the Department of Brewing Science and Technology, University of Uyo in the year 2003, popularly known as BREWERS 03, gathered in large number to celebrate 2014 end of the year.
The get together party which took place at No.17 Anua Street, Uyo, featured: praise & worship, exhortation, fund raising as well as dissolution and formation of new executive of the group.
In a brief exhortation, Pastor Ndifreke Itanka charged BREWERS 03 members to always be of good conduct in the society. He reminded them to be ready and be willing to help each other even as prayed that God should enlarge the members of the group.
Under Any Other Business (AOB), suggestions were made by members of the group that BREWERS 03 be registered with Cooperate Affairs and also open an account with a bank for the group. Also, suggestions were made on how to move the group forward. Specially, to hold its meeting quarterly every year even as a motion was also moved by Prince Sifonobong Eddie and seconded by Mr. Kingsley Etuk that the present executive of the group be dissolved.
In the same vein, a new exco of BREWERS 03 was elected to pilot the affairs of the group for the next three years, as Mr. Usoro James Usoro emerged Chairman, Kingsley Etuk, Secretary and Akwaowo Nseobot as Treasurer/Provost.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Usoro James Usoro expressed happiness to all members for finding him worthy to chair the group for the next three years. He called on the members to show him cooperation as well as extend the same support that was given to the out-going executive, adding that he will try his possible best to move the group to next level.
According to him, ‘please give us the same support that was given to the out-going exco. We should be our brother’s keeper and above all, we should encourage one another’. He commended the out-going exco for their dedication to services in the past three years.
Earlier, in his welcome speech, the out-going chairman of BREWERS 03, Mr. Abasiama Eduok thanked the members for giving him the opportunity to serve as chairman and promised on behalf of the out-going exco to support the new administration.
High point of the event was the presentation of calendar of event and notification of selection of Mr. Kingsley Etuk as the chairman of a one week event implementation committee of SIFANCO 2015 royal engagement.
