Abuja Court stops PDP, INEC from filing Udom Emmanuel as Akwa Ibom PDP Gov’ship Candidate
An Abuja High Court presided over by Honourable Justice Y. Halilu on Thursday 11th December 2014 issued an interim injunction restraining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from sending the name of Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel as the candidate of the party to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC has fixed December 25, 2014 for political parties to submit their respective candidates for the 2015 general elections.
The court granted the prayers filed by one of the 2015 PDP governorship aspirants in Akwa Ibom State, Chief Ime Ekanem in Suit No: FCT/HC/CV/765/2014 in Motion No: M/2593/14.

Chief Ekanem instituted the case against the PDP, the National Chairman of PDP and the National Secretary of PDP, asking the court to stop them from acting on the outcome of the December 8, 2014, PDP Primary result.

Justice Halilu granted an order restraining the defendants, the officers, organs, agents and representatives howsoever called from forwarding the result of Special State Congress purportedly held on 8th December, 2014 to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the purpose of producing a gubernatorial candidate in Akwa Ibom State for the 2015 General Elections, pending the hearing of the motion on notice in the suit.

The court had after granting the restraining order adjourned the matter to January 5, 2015 for hearing in view of the Christmas and New Year Break.
