Poor representation: Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency issue Emman Ukoette ultimatum

Poor representation: Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency issue Emman Ukoette ultimatum

Worried by what they described as a very poor and sad representation of Emmanuel Ukoette at the Federal House of Representatives, the youths of the federal Constituency have called on the federal lawmaker to give accounts of his representation.

In a release signed by youths stakeholders of the Federal Constituency, the group decried the performance of Ukoette saying that the Oruk Anam former youth leader is not leaving up to his promises to them.

They said,” You may recall that during your reelection campaign, you had passionately appealed that you would offer effective representation, if given a second term. You had cited the boos you received from your colleagues, the first time you made attempts at speaking in the Chambers, as the reason you never attempted to speak again.
You had also said that Tambuwal, the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, did not like you and therefore even when you had the courage to lift your hands, he wouldn’t recognize you. Recall further that you begged us to accommodate your inability to undertake community engagements with your constituents due to the fact that you had used your resources to purchase a house in Abuja for your residence and you said that if you were changed and another person brought, the new MP will face the same challenge. You swore to be a betterperson and asked us to do our worst if you failed.

It is in the spirit of that accord that we write you to remind that since June 2015 when you returned to the House of Representatives, you have not convened a constituency briefing nor attracted any project to our federal constituency. We have been watching the live streaming of the plenary with great expectation of witnessing your in-chambers advocacy (which you have not done’’.

In a release addressed to Ukoette nd titled, LETTER OF DEMAND FOR ACCOUNTABILITY, youths of Etim Ekpo/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency requests Ukoette amongst other things to, immediate convocation of a constituency briefing where you must inform us of your activities as our representative.

2.  Begin to speak and advocate on the floor, as we did not send you there to watch proceedings but to speak for us.

3.  Attract projects and federal presence to our federal constituency
4. Plan and execute life touching empowerment programmes for youths, women and the vulnerable in our federal constituency.

If you fail to undertake the set out demands listed above within a period of six months, we will have no option than to seek out and engage any and all legal means to reclaim our mandate from you.

Ukoette’s Constituent however promised to recall the Federal lawmaker if in six months he does not meet their demands.

Emmanuel Ukoette could not be reached to comment on the matter when our reporter sought his position. But his aide informed our newsdesk from Abuja that the House of Representatives member will not want to say a word on the matter. He however added that Ukoette will speak when the time comes.
