After much consultations and deliberation between young progressive politicians from Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and Obot Akara L.G.As, the progressive group metamorphosed to a new socio-political organization called “IKOT EKPENE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY INITIATIVE FORUM”, adopting Otuekong Nsikak Ekong for Ikot Ekpene Federal constituency Seat 2019 and Deacon Udom Emmanuel for second term.
Presenting the group to the mentor, Otuekong Nsikak Ekong at his residence in Ikot Ekpene last weekend, the coordinator, Mr. Daniel Umoekam explained the rationale behind the group stating that the group unanimously agreed with one accord to work for the actualization of Rt. Hon. Ekong’s 2019 aspiration based on his past performances and philanthropism.
He reiterated the group’s resolve to support him and follow his political direction till the 2019 mandate is achieved.
Responding, Otuekong Nsikak Ekong thanked the group for choosing to work with him for the 2019 Abuja mandate and promised to carry the group along politically and otherwise. He appealed to the group to support Gov. Udom Emmanuel for second term and accommodate him in our grass root mobilization.
He stressed that the Umbrella party was the best option for our people and not the broom party as most APC people benefited from PDP before cross-carpeting to ridicule PDP. He assured that PDP will bounce back.
The former AKHA member, now a commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission promised to sustain his humanitarian Services like assisting the less – privileged in the society even as he advised the group to call on him any time for any assistance. He promised to render effective representation come 2019.
On his part, Elder Patrick Umoh, Patron of the group thanked Otuekong Ekong for the reception and confessed that he decided to join the progressives because of whom was involved, the former Obot Akara Chairman described Rt. Hon. Ekong as the best material to represent the are in Abuja since 2019 was the turn of Ikot Ekpene based on rotation agreement. He promised to work with the group to actualize 2019 mandate.
Also speaking, the Deputy Coordinator, Mr. Bernard Idio Corroborated his Coordinator and promised Otuekong Nsikak Ekong that the group activities will be taken to all 32 wards of the Federal Constituency even as he appealed to Otuekong Ekong for Office accommodation which he rightly approved.
