As events continue to unfold ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Chairman, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Kufre Inyanete has stated that the APC must take over power in Akwa Ibom come 2019 to bring the needed change home.

Chief Inyangete stated this recently at Essien Udim during the inauguration of the chapter caucus members of the party.

He noted that the visit to the chapter was basically to bring the message of unity to the people of Essien Udim, adding that APC in Akwa Ibom is one and indivisible party under the leadership of Dr. Amadu Atai.

Chief Inyangette who is also the state vice chairman of the party disclosed the preparedness of APC to take over power in the state come 2019. While saying that recent political developments across the country have shaken the Hiltop Mansion, he stressed that the umbrella was completely torn and the sustaining rod was broken beyond use.

He sympathised with members of the torn umbrella saying they do not have any platform to contest for any political office.

The Ikot Ekpene APC boss however, said that the party was ready to receive anybody who has repented and ready to embrace change.

According to him, “we have received Senator Nelson Effiong, we have received Emman Ukoete, and we are still willing and ready to receive more who have repented and are ready to accept change of attitude. When you hate corruption, when you hate bad thing even in your family and community, you are APC. If you oppress your wife or neighbours you cannot be APC. APC is change and not only in politics but even in the community. The change we want must begin with you and me.”

Also speaking at the event, one of the caucus members, Hon. Etido Ibekwe said the meeting was a demonstration that APC was rooted in Essien Udim and ready to deliver, adding that all the party structures in the chapter were fully represented.

Hon. Ibekwe who is also a state caucus member of the party stressed that APC in Essien Udim was united and peaceful under the leadership of Pastor Kayeobong Edet and urged members especially ward leaders to give the necessary support.

He noted that the chapter had mapped out strategies for progressive politics adding that with the existing unity, only the sky can limit the chapter from achieving anything it sets to achieve.

Earlier in his address, the chapter chairman, Pastor Kayeobong Edet commended the chairman of the senatorial district and other members of the team including Barr Imo Akpan for the visit.

Pastor Kayeobong who is also the caucus chairman, enumerated the achievements of the chapter thus far as well as their challenges and assured all that Essien Udim is for APC come 2019.

Other members of the chapter caucus include but not limited to Elder Samuel Dickson, Hon. Micah Johnson, and Elders Friday Michael.
