Prince Uwem Ita Etuk |
More trouble is brewing for Prince. Uwem Ita Etuk, the Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning, if revelations emanating from the last rerun state assembly election in Ibesikpo local government area is anything to go by. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State have alleged that the former Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner was engaged in grand scale electoral malpractice during the rerun poll that produced Hon. Aniekan Uko as winner.
The APC says it has weighty evidences including videos that lend credence to their claim. The party says it would stop at nothing until the embattled Commissioner is arrested. The party alleged that the Commissioner is a serial election rigger, adding that they still have evidence of his massive election rigging and unbridled conducts during the 2015 general elections.
An APC source who spoke with THE INK noted that they have informed the appropriate authorities of Uwem Ita Etuk’s conduct during the last state assembly rerun election, saying that he (Uwem) will soon be arrested. While, the party did not come out plain whether they will contest the victory of Hon. Aniekan uko, it maintains that those that were involved in one misconduct or the other during the rerun poll will not go scot-free.
The party stressed that it will be remiss on their part if they close their eyes on what transpired at the rerun election, noting that even Corp members can testify to the widespread irregularities that characterised the rerun election in Ibesikpo LG.
A s if confirming the allegation of rigging in the said election, a source in Ibesikpo who spoke with our reporter explained that before the rerun election was conducted, political top shots in Ibesikpo had warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stay off the political affairs of the area and allow them go about the election the way they are used to.
The All Progressives Congress has therefore called for calm among its supporters, stating that the party is not leaving anything to chance as regards keeping the current administration on its toes.
Efforts to speak with Prince Uwem Ita Etuk proved abortive as his phone line was not connecting as at the time of going to press.
