CEDAR Court British International School hosts spring arts festival 2016

The 2016 edition of Spring Arts Festival ended in Uyo over the weekend with a call on the government, parents, guardians and care-givers to encourage children who have the passion for arts and creativity to express their innate abilities. The call was made by Dr. Mrs. Wealth Obibi – Lead Administrator at Cedar Court British International School, Uyo at the art exhibition organized by the school to showcase the artistic prowess of their pupils. 

Activities at the event featured presentations by various classes, individuals and teachers; others were dances, recitations and fine arts display by the pupils. The event climaxed presentation of awards to best artists and an exhibition where guests bought artworks created by the children. 

The proceeds, according to the Lead Administrator will be sent to the orphanage.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Timi Kakandar of the Nigerian Society of Arts expressed satisfaction over the vision and concept of the event. Spring Arts Festival has truly registered a very strong point; emphasizing the importance of arts in the education.

Reacting to the event, parents through the President of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) thanked Cedar Courts British International School for awakening such interest in their wards and also moved a motion that the event be done at the State level to involve the Government and other schools, according to the parents, “the benefits of the event is so vast and vital for the future of the Akwa Ibom Child.”

Cedar Court British International School has mission to provide a superior and excellent nursery care during a child’s most formative years. The school places a focus on the whole development of the child, aiming at creating a global mindset and equipping every pupil with essential skills for life-long learning.

Their passion in bringing International Education to the rural communities is commendable. This is seen in their continued use of International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the proper use of the English Diction, as well as strategic steps in nurturing children through international exchange programs with schools like International School of Paris, France; International School of Brussels, Belgium; International School of Amsterdam and the American School of London.
