Ahead of the forth coming Local Government polls, a chairmanship aspirant for Uyo Local Government Area, Prince (Comrade) Udeme Etim Udoh, has promised to key into the five point agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel if elected as Chairman of the Council.
The five point agenda, according to the aspirant include: Wealth Creation, Economic and Political Inclusion, Poverty Alleviation, Infrastructural Consolidation and Expansion, as well as Job Creation.
In an exclusive chat with our Correspondent, in Uyo, Comrade Udoh, a native of Mbiabong Ikono, in Ikono Clan, Uyo Local Government Area, said he was in the chairmanship race to bring the needed development to his people.
The Uyo-based business mogul turned politician stated that the five point agenda of Governor Emmanuel was working and promised to adopt it if elected as the next Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area.
While saying his chances of picking the PDP ticket to contest the Uyo Chairmanship election were bright, Comrade Udeme said poverty was the major cause of youth restiveness and promised to address it if elected by his people.
He said; “As a Prince; of course, you know that my father is the Village Head of MbiabongIkono. As an activist and a successful businessman, I have helped a lot of our people by giving them scholarships and employment, I promise to do more for them if am voted into power in the forthcoming council polls. I will give adequate attention to women and youths in the locality by empowering them. Our people have suffered enough hence I am out to alleviate their plight.”
He also promised to cater for the aged and widows, saying that, “my people know what I can do. I am not out to make empty promises; they should see me as somebody on a divine mission to bail them out of poverty. I will carry everybody along if elected as the next chairman of Uyo local government Council. Our people need not suffer anymore”, the Chairmanship hopeful stated.
Continuing, Prince UdemeUdoh said: “I will create the enabling environment in Uyo as the council chairman and when there is peace; investors will not be scared to come and invest in the area. I am out to make good changes in entire Uyo Local Government Area,” the Chairmanship aspirant assured.
The businessman who has given scholarship to several brilliant and indigent Students across the entire wards of Uyo, however, implored the people not to be carried away by the rumour that a certain aspirant had been adopted.
“It is a big lie that some people are spreading that some leaders have endorsed a particular aspirant; this is not true. We are all looking forward to a free and fair primaries comes and my chances of picking the PDP ticket and emerging the next chairman of Uyo local government area are very bright,” he said.
In the meantime, the Chairmanship hopeful has reaffirmed the unwavering support of his people to the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel because of what he termed “superlative performance within a short tenure”.
He however, used the occasion and called on members of the opposition parties to bury their differences now that the litigations are over and join hands together with the Governor, Mr Emmanuel, to build a better AkwaIbom State.
