The Executive Chairman of Oruk Anam Local government Area, Rt. Hon. Ubong Bernard Idiong has been coroneted as Obong Uwana Onna by the Paramount Ruler of Onna Local Government Area, HRM Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang at a colourful ceremony in Onna township stadium.

Prince Idiong who was accompanied to the event by a large number of Oruk Anam political stakeholders, wife, royal fathers and OHAFCO 84 old boys, youth and women groups said he felt delighted by the honour. “ I am particularly honoured by the good people of Onna with this chieftaincy title Obong Uwana Onna, it goes to show that my little contribution to humanity is greatly appreciated and it can only spur me to continue adding value to humanity, the council boos noted.

The Obong Uwana Onna beaming with enthusiasm, thanked the Onna Traditional Rulers Councils, for the honour done him and dedicated the award to Jesus Christ who he described as the only savior of the world. The Oruk Anam born politician promised to do his best to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Oruk Anam in particular and the state in general.

Dedicating the award to Jesus Christ Prince Idiong said it was pleased to be associated with the positive strides of the state government which he credited to the innovative and transformative measures adopted by Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to effectively reposition the state over the time. He assured that he will not disappoint his people and called for a more united Akwa Ibom even as he sued for support for Deacon Udom Emmanuel, the governor to complete a second term given his prudent management of the state resources.

In his remarks, the newly coroneted Paramount Ruler of Onna, HRM Edidem Raymond Inyang thanked God for making the day a reality. Edidem Inyang said the title of Obong Uwana Onna to Prince Ubong Bernard Idiong is first of its kind and he deserves it. HRM Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang called on the Onna title holders to see themselves as part and parcel of the palace and Onna while showing interest in the growth of the local government. The event which climax at the palace of Late HRM Obong Sampson Udo Idiong with good will messages from individuals, groups including the Clan Head of Obio Akpa, Clan Head of Ibesit, OFAHCO 84 Old Boys, Head of legislature of Oruk Anam, Oruk Anam PDP chapter chairman among others.
