The new Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP
Adeyemi Samuel Ogunjemilusi has said that tough time awaits criminal elements
in the State.
Briefing press men on Wednesday at the Force Headquarters, Ikot
Akpanabia, Uyo, CP Adeyemi Samuel Ogunjemilusi said he will make Akwa Ibom
State very difficult for criminals to succeed, vowing to pursue criminals as
well bring them to justice.
Hear him, “I would like to seize this opportunity to call on the
good people of Akwa Ibom State to continue to cooperate and collaborate with
the police to expose criminal elements and help the police serve the State
better.
He added that he would be counting on the support of other
security agencies in the State to ensure public safety, and that it is with his
earnest desire to also deepen and strengthen the existing cordial relationship
with the media for the benefit of the good people of the State.
The new Commissioner maintained that his vision is to make Akwa
Ibom the safest State in Nigeria, saying that he has reviewed the security
architecture of the State and he has had brainstorming sessions with principal
officers of the Command to reposition the Command for effective service
delivery.
According to the CP, “The Command under my watch will be guided
by three core principles of integrity, professionalism and quality service
delivery. This is in line with vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP
Ibrahim Idris.”
He stressed that his special attention would be paid to the
reorganisation of the Command’s tactical units such as Anti Cultism, Anti
Kidnapping, Anti Robbery, State Intelligent Bureau and Quick Response Squad to
effectively combat heinous crimes such kidnapping, Cultism, armed robbery, rape
and murder.
He however assured the State Government that the Command will
work assiduously to create enabling environment for job creation, wealth
creation, tourist attraction, industrialisation and constructive engagement of
the youths to actualize the dream of a great Akwa Ibom State.
