In every political setting both in Nigeria and the world at large, there is always a system of agreement when power is pursued and executed . This agreement is commonly unconstitutional however, it is a strong method for the prove of growing polity .
In Nigeria today it is popularly known as zoning system. This system has helped greatly for the peace of Nigeria’s nascent politics.
Surprisingly, most political office holders at assuming office maybe because of the common human greed will want to destroy the zoning system to the detriment of aspiring candidates who are eying their offices.
Some of these politicians will want to be in office for more than the agreed zoned tenure, while some will wish to stay in office forever.
Most unusual is a situation where by despite there performances in office their fractioned supporters will drum bias support for them.
The recent is from a group of youths from Odor ikot 2 in Essien Udim through a published communique on the Media calling for the continuity of Mr Emmanuel Akpan, Member Representing the Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency, an act which may likely destroy the zoning system in the after the expiration of his tenure.
On this background, another group of youths from the same Essien Udim under the umbrella of the Ikot Ekpene Constituency Initiative Forum aka Nsikak Ekong Mandate Group for Udom 2019, condemned strongly the anticipated disrespect for zoning by Emmanuel Akpan and his supporters.
They called on him to respect zoning as ordered by Governor Udom Emmanuel who recently told politicians to respect zoning especially if it was already in existence in the politic their areas in the state.
The youths who spoke through their Essien Udim Chapter Chairman of the association, Bernard Idio, frowned at the youths of Odoro Ikot 2 who supported the second term ambition of the incumbent, when it was the zoning turn of an experience candidate from Ikot Ekpene to the lead the Federal Constituency namely Hon. Nsikak Ekong former House of Assembly member representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara 2007-2015.
He stated confidently that their resolution on the media was uncalled for describing it as a public disgrace of a shameful sycophancy, further hinted that Mr Emmanuel was not qualified for the office because as at the time of filling this report he was yet to present is score card to is constituents like Senator Godswill Akpabio
They settled with the fact that Mr Emmanuel is inactive in the National Assembly hence it was time for Hon Nsikak Ekong to rule.
