Uyo elders drum support for PDP candidates *Say what happened before must be avoided

Some elders in Uyo  Local Government  Area under the auspices of Uyo Elders Advisory Council has solicited support for all the PDP candidates in the March 28 and April 11 general elections in the country.
Speaking through the Secretary of the council, Obong Clement Ekott, the forum particularly emphasised that the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel must be supported by the people of Uyo to emerge as the winner, saying that he’s coming to continue from where Governor Akpabio will stop.

Chief Ekott however noted that Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has since instructed the party to recognize all the elders in the 31 local government areas of the state.

According to Chief Ekott, “Uyo Elders’ Advisory  council was constituted by the party. Udom has instructed the party to recognize elders in all the local government areas of the state. We’re now asking people to wake up. We don’t want what happened in the past to repeat itself. We’re backing all the PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections. Udom for governor; Bassey Albert for Senate, Mike Enyong for House of Representatives and Monday Eyo for State House of Assembly. I appeal for everyone to go out and vote for PDP.

“On the 22nd of March, we had a pre-election meeting which was attended by all sections of Uyo elders to appraise what they have been doing in their respective wards. We had embarked on a house-to-house campaign and it’s yielding positive result. The elders will ensure that on March 28 we will vote Goodluck Jonathan and Udom Emmanuel on April 11,” he said.

While calling on the people of the Uyo and indeed the entire state to see the need to vote all PDP candidates, Chief Ekott noted that the people stands a chance of gaining more dividends of democracy if PDP candidates are voted into power.

Chief Ekott also thanked the leader of the Uyo Elders’ Advisory council, Sir Val Attah, describing him as seasoned principal who have been able to change the perspective of Uyo leaders to a more acceptable one.
