Sack of Five AKHA Legislators: Effanga faults IkonSack of Five AKHA Legislators: Effanga faults Ikon

The leading candidate for the seat  of Uyo Federal constituency and former commissioner in the Akpabio administration, Hon Samuel Effanga has faulted the decision of the speaker of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly saying the action is undemocratic and did not follow due process.

Effanga said this over the weekend when he addressed newsmen in his OsongAma Housing residence. The seasoned politician said the action of Ikon against the five AKHA legislators leaves a lot to be desired and that it appears the speaker of the 5th Assembly have had one or two scores to settle with the affected lawmakers.

He however contended that the affected lawmakers had a similar case to that of the Speaker and some members of the National Assembly and that he sees no reason why the case in Akwa Ibom should be different. He maintained that at this point in the political history of the state, there is no need for unnecessary controversies and distractions.
Effanga who is contesting the Uyo Federal constituency seat on the platform of Accord Party told newsmen that the law in Nigeria is one and since the fate of decamping members in the National Assembly has been on, the speaker of AKHA is not justified to have sacked five members of the State Assembly for decamping to other political parties. He added that Akwa Ibom state have come of age to know what is right and wrong in terms of political decisions and definitely the action of Sam Ikon does not belong to the right class. He called on politicians to see this moment as a mischievous one and see how to correct the anomaly without heating up the political space in Akwa Ibom.

Speaking further, Effanga said, it is his belief that since the affected lawmakers have since proceeded to the court to seek redress, they will have their case answered.

The former Science and Technology commissioner also spoke on his preparedness for the forthcoming Saturday elections and posited that he is ready and that with God on his side, the people of Uyo federal constituency will definitely support him to emerge their next House of Representatives member. Effanga said, the rate at which he has been receiving goodwill from the people he seeks to represent has been tremendous and posit that he will not leave any stone unturned in his quest to ensure that he offers the best of service to the people. Effanga called on the people of Uyo federal constituency to keep faith with him and vote Accord Party during the National Assembly election which is coming up on Saturday.
