Okon Uwah’s murder: Bishop Akpan Campaign Organization condemns act
The gruesome murder   of the former  Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Obong) Okon Uwah by unknown assailants during a political meeting at Ukanafun, recently, has been described as an “Unwarranted act” and “Unacceptable setback” to our nascent democracy.

The Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bishop Samuel Akpan Campaigns Organization, Comrade Oton Akpan, who stated this in a release made available to newsmen on Friday, said the dastardly act was a complete breach of the recently signed peace accord by all political parties and candidates in the State.

Comrade Akpan who described the late Obong Okon Uwah as an Akwa Ibom Patriot, a great politician and philanthropist who once served as the Executive Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Area, and until death the House of Assembly Candidate for Ukanafun State Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forth-coming April 11, 2015 election, said the act leading to his death should be viewed by all as pre-election violence which may lead to post-election violence if swept under the carpet.

The release called on the Nigerian Police to close ranks and unravel the perpetrators of the heinous act within the shortest possible time and bring them to justice.

While praying God to grant the family of the “Slain Patriot” the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, Comrade Akpan appealed to the Nigerian Police to give enough protection to all the candidates and the public before, during and after the forth-coming general elections.

The release, therefore, enjoined the people of Akwa Ibom State to rise in defense of democracy and shun all forms of electoral violence, pointing out that the international Community was keenly interested in the conduct of the 2015 general elections in Nigeria.
