Eight Ethnic Nationalities in A’Ibom promises 300,000 votes for Goodluck Jonathan, Udom Emmanuel

The wind of endorsement  currently sweeping  across the length and breadth of Akwa Ibom state in favour of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and it’s candidates in the upcoming general election, Tuesday, recorded another feat for the winning team of Udom Emmanuel/Moses Ekpo governorship ticket, as a group of 8 ethnic nationalities resident in the state have endorsed the PDP Presidential candidate, Goodluck Jonathan, Governorship candidate of Akwa Ibom, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and other candidates of the party as their sole candidate in the general elections.

Among the groups include, Arewa Peoples Assembly, led by Alhaji Sanni Abdullahi, Hausa Community in Akwa Ibom, led by Alhaji Sadauki, Ijaw community led by Barr. Japhet o. Japhet, Yoruba community led by Alhaji. Olukayode Oyekunle who is also the leader of the Yoruba Consultatuve Council.

The Igbo community were also ably represented during a solidarity visit by the group to the governorship candidate, Mr. Udom Emmanuel in Uyo.


Other members of the G8 include Building materials Association and National Automobile Teachnicians Association which were represented by their leaders.
Addressing the PDP governorship hopeful, leaders of the various groups in their separate speeches, said they have settled in the state for decades, got married and raised their families in Akwa Ibom, and have contributed to the economic growth of the state through their private businesses.

They took time to reel out the achievements of the PDP led government at both the national and state level, and particularly commended the free and compulsory education policy of the state government of which their children were currently enjoying, as well as the free health care programme, saying these were indications that the PDP means well for all Nigerians.

On his part the leader of the group, Dr. Kata Onyeziri, said the group which is made up of over 300,000 PVC carrying members, have resolved to vote for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan whom they described as the best President Nigeria has so far produced to enable him continue in the transformation of the country.

The G8 described Udom as the best candidate among the rest, saying they are satisfied with his campaign manifesto.

Responding, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who was represented by the Director General of his campaign organisation, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, thanked the group for identifying with his governorship bid, and assured that his government will fashion out programmes and policies that will also accommodate non indigenes in the scheme of things.

He commended their decision to support Jonathan’s re election and enjoined them to ignore the ongoing propaganda being championed by desperate politicians against the president.

Otuekong Nkanga was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Director General of the campaign organisation, Elder. Ben Udobia.
