Lawmaker donates administrative block, transformer, 10 solar lights to Police

Senator representing Eket Senatorial District in the red chamber of the national Assembly, Mrs Helen Esuene has donated an administrative block, transformer and 10 solar lights to Divisional Police Headquarter, Eket.
Esuene made the donation recently in Eket during the inauguration of the first phase of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) projects as facilitated by her in the area.

She said security was every body’s business and explained that security is the crux of sustainable development in the country.

Esuene said that the project would assist in the achievement of development goals and also to ensure environmental sustainability of Millennium Development Goals in the country.
According to her, the office of the Presidency gives assistance to put in place projects that will help in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).


“Since we represent the people, every year we are giving options to select projects within our constituency that we know will assist in the achievement of one or two development goals.
 “That is while I came up with this administrative block,’’ she said.

 She noted that more projects would soon be inaugurated at Oron and Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, adding that the project was a larger project from the MDGs office.
The Lawmaker expressed hope that the project would be the starting point to encourage and motivate Nigerians to give helping hands to the police.

She urged the Police personnel to be more proactive in discharging their duties in the state.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom Police Command, Mr Umar Gwadabe, expressed appreciation to Sen. Esuene for donating such an edifice, saying that the projects was first of its kind in the area.

Gwadabe restated his commitment to make the state crime free, saying that the Police was working assiduously to ensure that crime is kept at the barest minimum in the state.
“We on our part we pledged that we are going to make good use of Project to fight crime and equally make it difficult for criminals to live in the state,’’ he said.

The inaugurated 2013 Special Projects was sponsored by the Sen. Helen Esuene, Senator representing Eket Senatorial District to help to achieve in the MDGs.
 Gwadaba who was represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Posi Ajuwa, thanked Sen. Esuene for bringing projects to the Divisional Police Headquarter, Eket.

 “Without our Distinguished Senator this project won’t have come to the divisional police headquarter, somebody must fight for you before you can achieve something,’’ he said
