Member representing Eket/Onna/Esit Eket/Ibeno federal constituency Barr Bassey Dan Abia, Jnr over the weekend presented mouth-watering items to the people of his federal constituency with a charge on them to continue to support government as government is ready to do so much for them. Abia while speaking informed the people that he had to come home to empower the people because he has taken it upon himself to ensure that he gives back to the society what the society invested in him. He informed the people of the bills he had passed and stressed that he will continue to do more for the people of the federal constituency.
Abia who was accompanied to the event which was held at the Eket Council Hall called on the people to see themselves as agent of Government and do all they can to protect government properties and also project government in a good light. He maintained that he has contributed meaningfully to debates on the floor of the House of Representatives and promised to even do more. Abia listed some of the bills he has sponsored on the floor of the House and informed the people that they will not regret voting for him. he said his ultimate goal in the National Assembly is to ensure that he delivers upon the mandate that was given to him and also ensure that the people of Eket federal constituency is given a pride of place in the comity of federal constituencies in the National Assembly.
The Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area, Obong Iwaad Ibanga Etang in his remarks commended the House of Rep member and congratulated him for coming back to brief his people. He maintained that the decision by Abia to come back to brief his constituent is highly commendable. He praised Governor Godswill Akpabio for the impact he has created in the state and charged the people to join hands together in ensuring that the Governor Godswill Akpabio’s uncommon transformation sees the light of the day even after the state Chief Executive must have served out his tenure.
The chairman of Onna Local Government Area who was represented by the vice Chairman of Council and that of Ibeno Apostle Ekpe Nko had kind words for the Esit Eket born politician whom they described as showing exemplary life.
Beneficiaries of the empowerment Scheme were full of praises for Abia. They described him as a true statesman and a leader with the fear of God who has presented himself to be reliable for service.
Beneficiaries prayed God to bless Dan Abia and urged him to continue in his service to the people. They reiterated their support to him and also reminded him that the people will always appreciate him for what he has done for them.
Stakeholders who graced the occasion however charged beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme to please make very good use of the items as according to them, it should be able to generate profit and income for them. They also informed them that the empowerment scheme was to further reduce the rate of unemployment in the state and the Local Government Area.
The event was attended by political stakeholders of the region and a host of others. Amongst items he donated to the people were; cars of assorted types, tricycles, motor cycles, block moulding machines, sewing machines, generators, clippers and grinding machines. Abia also presented scholarships to students of the federal constituency.
