Emmanuel Udosen and the strength of a vision BY SAMUEL AYARA

Emmanuel Udosen and the strength of a vision BY SAMUEL AYARA
In a society where mediocrity was a legal tender and hooliganism a celebrated culture, little about hardwork and commitment was heralded and no mention was made of intellectual capability. Imminently established was moral decadence, restivesness and other such vices occasioned by the constant fall from acceptable societal values.

Uncertainty had its hold and not everyone dared a change while the few who did, had so much to contend with the societal cancer of the pull him down syndrome; that had become a courted order. This had in ways more than few impaired growth and progress cos most people had rather appreciated maintaining the status quo instead of daring new heights that may engender a fall in the believe that “ a man who is already on the ground fears no fall”. And forgot all about the joy of attaining new heights.

The low culture of appreciation for excellence from the society had in no small measure added to the decrease in drive to attaining new heights. Since appreciation and acknowledgement are boosters to the culture of ingenuity, honesty, hardwork and land mark successes. It is worthy to note that despite the waning culture of appreciation, people from time immemorial have striven to live up to their dreams in confirmation to the words of Victor Hugo, who said, “nothing in the World is more powerful than an idea whose time has come”.
This makes it possible to say that success has more to do with personal convictions.

In a bid to living up to the expected culture of appreciation, I today put forth the image of a man who has cut for himself an enduring legacy of sustained and unhindered growth. A scion of Chief Udosen’s dynasty of Nto-obo village in Abak LGA. His level of humility despite his social class and attainment is striking and mind blowing.

This man in focus is: Barr. Emmanuel Anthony Udosen (Ph.D). While some may not know him, it is on good authority that all that knows him can attest to his life of service, humility, activism and honesty. This is a man whose drive at changing the World around him for the better can be seen to be unparalleled. He saw education as the most potent tool of societal transformation and went all out for it.

He bagged a Ph.D in industrial sociology at the age of 35 in 2010. It is worthy of note that this noble icon made an A grade in both his M.Sc and Ph.D from University Of Calabar and University of Uyo respectively. He has a law degree from the University of Uyo, had attended the Nigerian Law School, Enugu and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2013. It is commonly said that progress to some people is a slow process, but Dr. Emmanuel Udosen’s progress has been as sure as God’s existence. Since he has always lived on the high moral precept he gained at the Queen Of Apostles Seminary, Abak.

It is established that a golden fish has no hiding place, what has made Barr. Emmanuel Udosen different from other golden fishes is that he leaves a lasting feel of hope, succour and assurances. His non second fiddle role to life has brought him to fore through ready solutions and suggestions he profers in difficult situations. His possibility bound approach to all his endeavours has seen to the exploits and several breakthroughs recorded by various socio-political groups like; Chris Okorie’s Vanguard(COVAN), Friends Of Godswill Akpabio Worldwide (FOGAW). He has also worked with The Kano State Rehabilitation Board.

This is one man who has not been found wanting in leadership from his hare days. While in the Nigerian Law School, he was President Of Akwa Ibom State Law Students Association where he bagged the Nigerian Law School Director General’s Award of Excellence for his outstanding academic and leadership performance.

It is on record that he has lead various groups to successful outings. He serves till date in the Governor Akpabio’s Special Duties Squad, he is also the President Of Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika Youths Consultative Assembly; a group that has been at the fore front of supporting community development through participatory leadership., He co-ordinated the Coalition Of Abak Youth groups for Godswill Akpabio in 2011. This noble icon is also the President of the umbrella Annang Youth Organisation known as; The National Council For Annang Youths (NACAY), a group he has used to co-ordinate the activities of youths of Annang Ethnic Nationalities for productivity and Nation building.

This organisation has branches in Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Rivers, all states of the Federation as well as USA, Canada and UK. NACAY under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Udosen has been so better grounded on its aim of encouraging good governance. He has held under his leadership of NACAY several programs which show cased the gains and merits of the Governor Akpabio’s uncommon Transformation in Akwa Ibom State across the Country .

Some of such fora hosted the Governors of Rivers and Lagos states, ministers, senators, top government officials and diplomatic representatives as guests. It is a group that first discovered the seemingly low legislative representation in the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District which prompted the call for Governor Godswill Akpabio to give a shot at the National Assembly in 2015.

A Leader according to John Maxwell is “a man that knows the way, goes the way and shows the way”, Barr. Dr. Emmanuel Udosen has fulfilled all followership obligations and has led such life that has enabled him learn even from a society that neglects wisdom. His mastery of leadership has helped him go through life in a successful circle. It is true that a sandwich of what he experiences, knows and does has conspired to create for him an enviable and emulable image. Whoever said success can’t buy fame certainly does not know where to shop, cos for Dr. Udosen, success has bought him a great gold mine of fame and goodwill that will out live a life time.

Dr. Emmanuel Udosen is an hero present, industry personified, peace in human form and he is the real meaning of honesty and dedication. In his effort at providing leadership to the younger generation, he needs be reminded that we have his back.

God bless our generation’s icon of hope; Barr. Dr. Emmanuel Udosen.
