Akpakip Oro Police Officers Forum to Erect Permanent Secretariat in Uyo
… Launches 2014 Calendar

It was a memorable day of uncommon display of rich cultural heritage of Oro nation last weekend when some senior and junior Police Officers of Akpakip Oro extraction bandied themselves together to forge a united front for their welfare, comradeship and uplift of the finest tenet of policing.

Led by a crack detective and immediate past Divisional crime officer II of ‘C’ Division, Uyo , Ulap Ita Ottong, the police officers disclosers that aside from launching of their 2014 calendar, plans were also underway to build a permanent secretariat for the group in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital.

ASP Ita Ottong (retd) who assumed the leadership of the Forum in 2010, in his welcome address indicated that the body has continued to enjoy magnificent growth with the introduction of checks and balances aimed at curtaining embezzlement, even as he has successfully registered the body with the Cooperate Affairs Commission.


The President recalled that he singlehandedly donated 2011 Calendar to the organization and however vowed to ensure that the aims and objectives of the forum which include, the alleviation of the plight of Oro sons and daughters, as well as identifying with their kith and kin’s and promotion Oro  rich cultural heritage would at all times be given priority.

SuPol  Ita Offfong then promised that the age long Afangki’’ fraternity would be highly propagated and erected into the body  into the body language of the group and enjoined members, no matter their ranks to identify with the lofty  ideas of the forum.

In his chairmanship remarks a prominent member of the body and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ibesikpo Division, SuPol Emmanuel Obiosio (CSP) charges the members of Akpakip Oro police officers forum (AOPOF) to see their membership as a call to duty for not only their home but the nation, where useful contributions could be nurtured   to eliminate criminality as well as offer credible services to the people.

SuPol Obiosio maintained that since there is always reliable strength in unity, the coming together of all the police officers and men of Oro extraction would usher in a clearly  defined excellence in comradeship and togetherness among Okobo, Udung Uko, Oron, Mbo, Urue Offong/Oruko and the entire police and civilian hierarchy in the state.

SuPol Obosio pointed out that it would be as a result of such commendable and exemplary roles, that the public perception of the police and image launching of the force would be highly reckoned with.
Among top Oro sons and daughters who identified with their brothers and sisters in uniform were Chief Jerome Isangedighi (who sent in a handsome donation), Elder Okokon Ufi — a prominent exco  member of Oron Union, Uyo, Obonganwan Mrs Etimyang Udofa, SuPol Friday Mkpa, Elder Ekpo, Supol Nkeruwen, James Atteh, Edet Bassey, Nduonofit, among others, as well as the State Chairman of League of Veteran Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, Chief Emmanuel  Esifa.
