How PDP takes over APC stronghold in Uyo - Promise to deliver GEJ, Udom  Emmanuel, ors unopposed
 
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to win more support to clinch victory ahead of the 2015 general elections in the country. 

In Uyo the Akwa Ibom State capital the party has now taken over ward 7 which used to be the stronghold of opposition in time past.
This came on the heels of a cross section of the then ACN now APC members who formally defected to the PDP at an enlarge campaign rally of the party in the ward held at St. Philips Primary School Use Offot last Saturday. 

The leader of the defectors decried their long suffering in the wilderness of APC as very regrettable and appealed for forgiveness from the ward, while seizing the moment to denounce opposition party, by burning their old dirty brooms from APC. The defectors were received by the PDP ward chairman Uduak Edim who later handed them over to the state PDP chairman Obong Paul Ekpo who admitted them into the party, and expressed happiness for the victory awaiting PDP at the polls. 
Speaking separately, the political leader of Uyo Local Government Area, Sir Val Attah was also in accord with the development while commending the defectors for their bold step and reiterated the need for uyo people to denounce opposition politics and declared a door to door campaign open for PDP in the area. 

Member of the State Executive Council and Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources Hon. Enobong Uwah had stressed the people’s readiness to vote Peoples Democratic Party in all the elections while describing Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the hope of Uyo people encourage the ward to mobilize en’mass to vote him as governor of Akwa Ibom State 2015 and urged other candidates of the party to live up to expectation when elected. 

Uwah said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has and will continue to deliver dividend of democracy to his people and should be voted in the elections.  
The rally which adds in attendance PDP faithful across the state saw the candidates of party presenting their manifestos. 

Addressing the people, the PDP candidate for Uyo Senatorial District, Obong Bassey Albert assured them of full representation and all inclusive government, while soliciting for supports and votes for himself, President Jonathan re-election, and Mr. Udom Emmanuel commended Gov. Akapbio for handing over power to Ibibio as he promised in 2011. 

Also addressing the gathering, the PDP candidate for Uyo Federal Constituency, Engr. Mike Eyong decried ineffectiveness of opposition party representing the constituency in the National Assembly and called for it voted out so he can go and bring dividend of democracy to the people.
Eyong while calling for vote and supports to PDP promised to establish his constituency office at Uyo Ward 7 and advocated for more slot to indigenes of Uyo into universities which he said is going to be one of his agenda before the N/A. 

In a similar speech, the PDP candidate for Uyo State Constituency, Monday Eyo has promised to implement his first constituency project in Uyo ward 7 and solicited for their vote and support in the election. The lawmaker in waiting assured his people of PDP victory in the election and charged them to come out and vote in the election. 

Earlier, the convener of the rally and member State Executive Council of the PDP chief Augustine Ikpe in a keynote address commended the state governor Chief Godswill Akpabio, the state party chairman Obong Paul Ekpo and appealed that the ward be carry along in the scheme of things while assuring 88% vote to PDP in the election.

Chief Ikpe who is also the Coordinator of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN for Uyo Local government area called on those vying for elective public office to remember Uyo ward 7 which decried their needs to include good road network, pipe born water, electricity, renovation/ construction of schools, market and hospital in the area and stressed need for the incoming government to appoint sons and daughters of the ward and Uyo in general into key government offices. 

The PDP Chairman in Uyo ward 7, Mr. Uduak Edim has said that PDP will win the election in the ward unopposed and welcome the APC defectors to his fold and promised to carry them along while urging all the political leaders to deliver their unit each. 

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area Hon. Mrs. Roberta Edem has expressed joy that PDP had taken over Uyo ward 7 which used to the cradle of opposition in the area, noting that if PDP wins ward 7, then they have win Uyo Local Government Area already while thanking the those that turn out for the rally, she called for vote to PDP in the elections.
According to Chairman of the Planning Committee of the event Mr. Ekop Etop Uruk, the rally was held to collapse all structures in the ward for PDP as they were tire of opposition and hoped the incoming government will further enhance and justify their decision to vote PDP in the state and country. 

Highpoint of the rally which had the state Commissioner of Finance Mr. Akan Okon, the Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area. 

Chairman of NUJ, Elder Patrick Albert represented, TAN, other socio-political and/cultural as well as youth groups and elders and women organizations, Party Chieftains and supporters of the PDP, Udom Emmanuel, OBA, Baba Ntan and Moray in attendance, was the opening of a campaign office donated to PDP in the area and a bus also donated by Chief Agustine Ikpe to boast the door to door campaign that will assure PDP victory in the ward and LGA in the elections.
