Ak Gov’s wife attributes husband’s success to God’s grace Says power belongs to God, he gives to whom he pleases

Wife of the Akwa Ibom Governor,  Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, has attributed the successes of the Godswill Akpabio administration to God’s grace upon the governor and his determination to leave a lasting legacy for his people.  

Mrs. Akpabio spoke during her visit to the Royal Household of God Ministry, Uyo, during its 2015 conference tagged “Where are the Prophets?” The governor’s wife urged people in authority to recognize God in all they do, irrespective of their position, adding that power belongs to God and without Him, no one can succeed. She called on all to submit to authority in order to receive the blessings of God. 

 Speaking on the forthcoming elections in the country, saying that it was pertinent for the church to rise up and be involved. She noted that for the sake of justice in the state, the PDP had decided that it was the turn of Eket Senatorial District to produce the next Governor of the state. She also called on all to support the president in his re-election bid.  

Mrs. Akpabio appreciated the host pastor Evangelist Cyril Bassey for the role of his ministry in raising responsible youths for the state. Mrs. Akpabio donated a 200KVA generator.  


Also speaking, the wife of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearer Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel said God only chooses and blesses whomever he wants to, noting that it is the grace of God that has brought her husband this far. She called on all to pray for Nigeria and the state as the elections approaches adding that it is only the will of God that will prevail. On behalf of her family, she donated the sum of 1million naira to the church. 

 The host pastor and founder of the church, Evangelist Cyril Bassey in his appreciation thanked the Governor’s wife for the visit, describing her as a woman of authority and spirituality. He said the governor’s wife disposition towards the indigent people in the state and the church was a proof that she is a caring and loving mother. He noted that the generator gift by the governor’s wife was an answered prayer. Prayers were offered for those in places of authority, the state as well as the nation. Special prayers were also offered for the first lady and her family. 

In Her Excellency’s entourage were the wife of the former governor, Mrs. Funmi Nkanga, wives of legislators led by wife of the speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Mary Ikon, wife of deputy speaker, Mrs. Ime Udokierian and coordinator Family Life Enhancement Initiatives, Mrs. Asuama Sydney. Also present were wives of commissioners led by Mrs. Ann Enoidem, Chairman Udung Uko LGA Hon. Mrs. Kenim Onofiok, Vice Chairman Ibiono LGA, Mrs. Shelly Allen, wife of the Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, Lawrencia Usoro and wife of Nsit Atai LGA chairman, Mrs. Dorcas Eset.
