Gov’s wife calls for unity among Christians
The wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel has called on Christians to live in love, peace and unity irrespective of their denomination, adding that virtues such astolerance and forgiveness are essential ingredients for the Kingdom of God. The Governor’s wife made the assertion at the Qua Iboe Church 8th biennial National Women’s convention held at the Samuel Bill Theological Collage, Abak.

Mrs. Emmanuel who spoke on the theme of the Convention: Women of God, Prepare for to meet Thy King” said to make haven, one must love, support and care for one another, pointing out that as believers and followers of Christ, he expects us to follow his example.

She noted that as Christians, we shall all give account of our sojourn on earth, admonishing all to eschew bitterness and anger and embrace love for one another in order to build the body of Christ. The first lady appreciated the organizers of the event for the insightful of the convention, which she said is preparing men for the kingdom of God.


In her goodwill message, the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Glory Edet who spoke on the need for Christians especially women to love and live in peace with one another advised the women to rise above biases’ and hatred and key into the “Dakkada” philosophy of the Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel, saying that it is a call for spiritual rebirth. 

Also, in her keynote address the wife of the Commissioner for Information Mrs. Maureen Umanah said the theme of the convention is timely, apt and relevant to the realities of the demands of the Christendom. She enumerated virtues such as Love, Humility Attitude and service to God as ingredients necessary for the preparation to meet our king.

Earlier, the National President of the Qua Iboe Church     Women’s Fellowship, Deaconess Idara Akpan thanked God for his kindness and protection before and during the convention. She also appreciated the Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel and wife, Martha for their support and love towards the organization of the convention, praying that God will reward them.Deaconess Idara also acknowledge efforts all those who contributed immensely towards the success of the convention and prayed for God’s blessing on their lives. She charged the women to rise in a positive way in every facet of life to be favoured when the Lord Jesus shall come.

Similarly, the Governor’s wife Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel speaking at the 80th birthday celebration of Elder Okon Frank Ekpo held at the Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Okoro called on Christians to show love to one another and lend a helping hand when occasion demands.

Mrs. Emmanuel said the celebrant whom she described as her mentor has lived a fulfilled and meritorious life and as such deserves to be celebrated while alive, praying that God will continue to sustain him with more strength and wisdom.
