The Akwa Ibom State Quartenary Medical Center, Ibom International Specialist hospital, is set to commence operations as medical expatriates arrive the state to test run facilities at the center.
The State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel, announced this during the Commissioning of an ultra modern Residential Apartments of the Hospital at Shelter Afrique Estate, Uyo.
He said, with the commencement of services in the hospital, the state is propelled to join the league of .big nations of the world in providing first class health care services and expressed optimism that the health institution would redirect medical tourism to the State.
Governor Emmanuel who expressed appreciation to the immediate past Governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for conceptualizing a world class health facility for Akwa Ibom people, described the inauguration as an icing on the cake of uncommon transformation and a hallmark of sustainable development in the health sector.
He said that local content will not be compromised as the would work with qualified indigenous medical personnel to attain to health challenges and develop additional manpower.
The Governor assured that he would not renege on his commitment to providing quality services to the people and sued for patience as he takes the citizenry through sustainable development as promised during the electioneering campaign.
The Governor announced the remittance of subsidy to the School of Health Technology, Etinan and said that the health care and welfare
of it citizens remain paramount in the administration.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Special Duties Engr. Etido Inyang said that the Residential Apartments is sitted on a forty six thousand six hundred and twenty two square meters with forty apartment custom built totally one hundred and forty rooms equipped with ancillary facilities, water treatment plant, swimming pool and a super market.
He said each of the apartment is exquisitely furnished and thanked the Governor for the vision of providing a standard facility for the International community.
Also, the Health Commissioner, Dr Dominic Ukpong, maintained that security and accommodation are good factors that facilitate excellent service delivery and expressed appreciation to the Governor for providing a comfortable accommodation to the medical expatriates.
The Chief Medical Director, Dr Yemi Johnson, said that medical personnel including Doctors, Nurses and technicians from different parts of the world have arrived the state to test run the facilities and that the hospital will go into full fledged operations in the next few days.
The Governor was shown round the Estate in company of th Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
