On Friday, 28th October 2016, Streetsrepresentatives from more than 80 major streets across AkwaIbom gathered at Discovery Park, UdoUmanaStreet, Uyo L.G.A for the formation of a new group called the STREET UNION. Speaking after the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Union, Dr. George Udoh told our correspondent that given the biting season of change in Nigeria, it became very necessary for a group that can work to encourage the people of AkwaIbom extraction to keep faith in and support the government of Deacon Gabriel Udom Emmanuel.
He said the union will be the biggest and strongest organization in recent times. Their mission is to amalgamate all streets, community and village associations for the purpose of supporting the government in order to move AkwaIbom forward in the atmosphere of peace and unity derivable from relationships of trust that will ginger collaboration between the government and the governed.
Dr Udoh highlighted that the objectives of the group are to Sensitize and educate the people on the need to support the Dakkada initiative of the state government and keep hope alive in the face of critical change; stir all strata of AkwaIbom Society to trust God and support the government of Deacon Udom Emmanuel; Constructively connect the people and the communities with government programmes and activities; Work for the empowerment of AkwaIbom indigenes through strategic government programmes and Partner with the government of DeaconUdom Emmanuel to make AkwaIbom great.
The Director of Operations, MrItoroAkpan added that the Union will have of Board of trustees , State Executives, the Supreme Council which will be made up of one representatives from all the 31 Local government areas and the Chapter council will have representatives from all the streets and village youth associations in the local government area.
The Union noted that the people of AkwaIbom were blessed to have Governor Emmanuel at the helms of affairs, that the path for the next-level development of the State has already been chatted to consolidate the enviable position of AkwaIbom in the comity of States in Nigeria and on the international scene. They expressed their conviction that the Governor had put up a five-star performance so far.
The Street Union showers Encomium on Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, Ntufam Elijah Iyak, for the supporting the union and making the inaugural meeting a reality. They describe NtufamIyak as a selfless detribalize leader that has the interest and development of AkwaIbom at heart.
The attention of all Youth Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Akwa Ibom State have been drawn to information circulating on air and other news platforms that youths of Akwa Ibom State should converge in Eket, Ikot Ekpene and Uyo Senatorial Districts in a rally tagged Nda Ye Udom thank you tour as organized and coordinated by a certain Aniefiok Iwaudofia an aide to His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel.
While we normally would not have bothered to come out with this release, we are obliged to speak out on this purported rally which is in its entirety fraudulent, satanic, vile and a calculated attempted to obtain funds albeit dubiously from our Governor Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and perhaps other unsuspecting elites of the Akwa Ibom Public.
Our initial findings have revealed that the organizers of that show did not consider or even sought the position of the youth leaders in this regard because of the fraud it intends to achieve.
And to this end, we wish to state very clearly that no youth of Akwa Ibom State of good conscience should honour such invitation to the rally.
We had earlier called Aniefiok Iwaudofia the SA on youth matters to the Governor to explain the rationale behind such ill motive which in all sense is not in favor of our exceptional Governor but he has turned down the call. He refused a meeting with us to at least explain the aim of his action but he has equally failed to do so.
Furthermore, we had sought from the leadership of the party in the State if they are aware of Iwaudofia’s intention but they responded in the negative.
Since the intending rally is shrouded in secrecy which is pregnant with a lot of negatives, we are using this medium to advice all youths, Elders and members of the public to please discountenance Iwaudofia’s plot to dupe the Governor and Government of Akwa Ibom State through this show of a rally he is christening Nda Ye Udom, thank you tour.
We are calling on the Government in Eket, Ikot Ekpene and Uyo Local Government Areas not to release their facilities for such sham.
We (the youth leaders of PDP in Akwa Ibom State) shall stop that nefarious function which is billed for Tuesday 2nd through Thursday 4th Nov, 2016 across the three Senatorial Districts in the State.
We frown at Aniefiok Iwaudofia’s continuous use of Akwa Ibom Youths for his pecuniary benefits only for him to give them pittance at the end of the day. We dare Iwaudofia and his likes to go ahead with that show of a rally then will have the youth leaders of PDP in Akwa Ibom State to contend with.
We shall match every threat with action. And every action with more actions. A word is enough for the wise.
Let us use this opportunity to restate our total commitment and support to our Governor Deacon Udom Emmanuel for his total zeal towards industrializing Akwa Ibom State and making our youths self reliance.
It is our belief that with Governor Emmanuel’s drive in Akwa Ibom, our State will become a cynosure of all eyes.
