Reacting, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, while congratulating the people of the state on the celebration, enjoined all not to lose faith in “our collective ability to make Akwa Ibom Africa’s next destination.”

He said: “On a day like this, we must reflect on the need to build on the faith which was sown by our founding fathers into the very foundation of our statehood. We must reflect on their sacrifices, their vision, and the very bond of brotherhood which inspired their success. Our generation must serve as a model to upcoming generations who will seek something positive that we left behind, something on which they could consolidate. We must answer to the call of unity, and leave behind hate and virulent courses. We must build on our history of resilience and hard work, diligence and fair play, as we look to creating an Akwa Ibom state where every man and woman, children and visitors will be proud to associate with.

The Speaker used the opportunity to call on the youths in the state to step up to the challenge of setting a new agenda that will propel Akwa Ibom to greatness.

He noted that “we have fared well in the last 29 years, but there is yet enormous room for us to enlarge our coasts, swell our barns, and multiply our yields. We must not lose faith in our collective ability to make Akwa Ibom Africa’s next destination”.
