Be prayerful, first lady urges Akwa Ibom women

Akwa Ibom women have been urged to continue to pray and intercede for the peace and prosperity of the state and the country at large.

Akwa Ibom Governor’s wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel made the call during the women monthly prayer summit for the month of October held at the banquet hall ground, government house, Uyo with the theme “The Unstoppable God.”

While speaking, she attributed the successes recorded by the state government over the past months to the prayers of the women saying “when women pray, things change”. Mrs. Emmanuel who took the first and second bible reading from Exodus 14:1-30, Acts 12:1-16admonished the women not to relent in their prayers as the unstoppable God which they gather to worship every month is still doing great things in the land.

The Governor’s wife who berated the level of insolence and abuse meted to the government by enemies who do not mean well for the state, solicited for more support for the administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel, pointing out that the government is ever determined to industrialize the state for the betterment of all.

The First lady also frowned at Parents who delight in giving out their wards to people for house helps outside the state, saying the conditions to which these children are subjected to, is appalling. She advised the women to desist from the act, but rather should strive to carter for them, adding that God will provide for their upkeep.

In her magnanimity, Mrs. Emmanuel used the prayer summit to empower a cross section of the women with cash gifts for businesses, requesting that they multiply the seeds sown.

In a brief exhortation, Pastor Utibe-eno John preaching on the theme of today harped on the efficacy of the word of God, saying in His word, there is power. She stated that the saving grace lies in God’s word and encouraged the congregation to devout more time in serving God

Referencing the book of Exodus 14:1-30, the cleric said the unstoppable God who saw the children of Israel through in the land of Egypt, was still present in the state and charged the women to serve God with all their hearts to receive blessings.

As part of the meeting, a handful of women who through the prayer meeting have been blessed, testified to the goodness of God in their lives. Prayers were offered for the economy of state and the country at large. Special prayers were also offered for the Governor and family.
