Udom Emmanuel: A metaphor of good governance BY JOSEPH OKON

Udom Emmanuel: A metaphor of good governance BY JOSEPH OKON
The 31st of July 2013 herald in what can best be described as a new beginning in the administrative governance of Akwa Ibom state with the emergence of a gentle, humble, forward looking, progressive, superlative, trust worthy, active, dependable, tested, and result oriented administrator par-excellence, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel as the new Secretary to the State Government.

There is no gain x-raying the many good things he has done including the good leadership qualities he possess since he does not like bragging about his achievements, but it may interest you to know that he is the first Secretary to State Government to build a huge financial autonomy for state government through his industrialization programme.
He is the first SSG to attract over four mega industrie
s of international recognition and standard to Akwa Ibom state within one year in office; he is the first secretary to Akwa Ibom state government to effectively reposition the economy of the state for efficient productivity.

For the first time in history, Akwa Ibom state is having a world renowned financial expert and industrialist as the secretary to state government who has brought a lot of reforms in the administrative strategy of government through his time tested experience garnered in the private sector. I will also like to tell you that he is the first SSG that has earned the trust, confidence, respect, and admirations of the controllers of the world economy.

Udom Emmanuel is undoubtedly the first SSG to take upon himself and pursue with all amount of commitment, sincerity of purpose, and perseverance, the actualization of Akwa Ibom industrial revolution and unbundle the civil service driven economy state which will soon transform Akwa Ibom to an industrial hub of Africa. He goes to bed every-night thinking about the welfare of Akwa Ibom people and wake up with solutions to make the state economy better than before.
He will not tell you that he is the first SSG to work with state governor and link the state to the global economic world within a short period of time. He does not either brag about his achievements industrially in the state within the last one year and few months in office. So far, Akwa Ibom can now brag about a working power plant that will supply gas to the hydro power stations for constant industrial power.

The Petrochemical and Methanol Plant (PMP) construction is on-going, the PECO industry that produces all kinds and brands of electronics has already started production, the Fertilizer production plant is underway, ground breaking for the project construction will commence shortly. Very soon, industries will floodall parts of the state courtesy of the hardworking, reliable and indefatigable SSG.
When these industries commence fully, Akwa Ibom people will be gainfully employed because thousands of jobs will be created through Public Private Partnership between the state government and the investors (private sector). Currently, 14 industries have been attracted to the state though most of them have not started full operationsyet; permit me to inform you that they are at various stages of siting or about to get clearance to come into Akwa Ibom.

All these things are made possible by thisproactive and result oriented SSG, Mr Udom Emmanuel who is very knowledgeable and experienced in the area of industrialization and investment, having worked closely with investors around the world and give them financial backings and advise to grow and sustain their investments; he became one of the famous financial cum investment experts that have earned the trust, reliability, confidence, and respect of investors all over the world.

Udom Emmanuel is well positioned with the needed connections among the movers and controllers of the world economy, he has a lot of industrial experience, potentials and brighter prospects that can unleash rapid development to the state for Akwa Ibom people to tap from him and better their lives.
This is not the time for politics of ethnicity or divisiveness, it is the time to face realities and ensure actualization of the dreams of our founding fathers in making sure that industrialization come to stay in Akwa Ibom State which had been the yearnings andaspiration of the founding fathers.

This is the time that Akwa Ibom people must come together for once and decide their future on where to go from here, either to move forward in the on-going transformation spirit or to go back to the dark days of looting, cultism, poverty in the midst of plenty, and underdevelopment. This decision should not be based on any sentiment or ethnic bias; it should be based on the overall interest and prosperity of Akwa Ibom state and its people. Patriotism and total loyalty to the state must supersede any personal or sectional interest, in making this decision; self-pride and individual ego must be buried to allow real development of the state to manifest.

To make a patriotic decision that will move the state forward in 2015, Akwa Ibom people must consider and settle for the very best that will give the state excellence and rewarding governance. Undoubtedly, Mr Udom Emmanuel has proved beyond doubt to be the very best who is committed to the industrial revolution of this state based on experience and capacity to deliver quality developments. All other patriotic AkwaI bomites who will submit their ambitions for the continued progress and development of this state must join hands together with Udom Emmanuel to move the state forward in the direction of progress.

This is the first time Akwa Ibom state is blessed to have an action Secretary to Government who is committed to work in synergy with the governor, leaving behind any personal ambition to bring about industrial revolution of Akwa Ibom. Udom Emmanuel is a man who is not givento much speaking, but he believes in taking actions that has clearly shown his commitment for development because he understands that action speaks louder than words.

His proactive actions within the last one year and few months in office has yieldedmany positive and tangible fruits which are evidence in the location of industries like Petrochemical and Methanol Plant at Esit Eket, the PECO electronic industry, the fertilizer plant that is coming on the way, and many others.
Truly, the SSG has proved to his detractors in Akwa Ibom state that he is indeed a promise keeper, he made a promise to the youths in the state that he will give them a petrochemical industry in Akwa Ibom few months ago, he made thepromise when he addressed youth groups who attended the sensitization seminar organized by the Bureau of Political and Legislative Affairs not long ago which is a reality today.

Udom Emmanuel can be seen as a man who is not ready to leave any stone unturned in ensuring that Akwa Ibom people have better life. It is also true that nobody in this state, even those who don’t like him or his opponents can’t fault his good antecedents, capacity and competent to attract real industrialization and transform this state within a short period of time.

Finally, beloved Akwa Ibom people, whatsoever thing is true, whatsoever thing is honest, whatsoever thing is just, whatsoever thing is pure, whatsoever thing is lovely, whatsoever thing that is of good report such as supporting Udom Emmanuel to emerge the governor of this state which is virtues and praise-worthy, seek after it. Therefore, let Udom Emmanuel be done in 2015!
