The worldwide body of the National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students, (NAAKISS) have frowned at the recent publication of the Projector Newspaper dated 12th August 2014 that a self-acclaimed President of NAAKISS Worldwide declared support for an aspirant in the forthcoming 2015 elections.
The body in a statement signed by its Worldwide Speaker, Hon. Williams Ekposon expressly stated that the Association is a socio-activism group whose cardinal objective is to ensure, promise and promote the welfare of students, through good moral behaviour and effective leadership representation anywhere on planet earth without any political inclination.
The statement reads further “the Association has never taken such decision and we wish to inform the public that such a decision can only be taken by the congress of the Association”.
The International body stressed that the Association which has been bereft of a National Executive Council since 2006, has its parliament in collaboration with Chapter Presidents and relevant authorities working acidulously to conduct a credible election that would enthrone a credible and resourceful National Executive Council for the Association.
According to the statement, the reaction is not targeted at anybody but rather to set the facts based on the constitution of the Association and more so, to forestall a declaration and counter the said publication that members or an Executive member of NAAKISS declared support for an aspirant.
