The helmsman of THE INK NEWSPAPER, Mr. Nsibiet John was on Saturday 13th of September given an Award of Excellence in Newspaper Publishing and Editing by youths of the Church of The Nazarene on the occasion of their 2014 youths week tagged “Use me oh Lord”.
The award which was presented by gospel artiste, John Jima, on behalf of the youth body was received by Miss Priscilla Christopher on behalf of Mr. Nsibiet John.
Receiving the award, Mr. Nsibiet John appreciated the youths for their courage and involvement in spiritual activities, and encouraged them to keep the light of their spiritual lives aglow. He observed that the youths are the live-wire of any institution including the church, and should not be found lagging behind.
Preceding the award presentation was the delivering of keynote addresses by guest speakers including Mr. Nsibiet John, Mr. Ubong Umanah and Rev. Samuel Jonah.
Nsibiet John who spoke expansively on the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Social Media to Christian Youths described the social media as a two-edged sword which can positively or negatively influence the youths if properly used or abused. He advised youths to curtail their addictiveness to the social media to avoid risk aversion, distraction, conformity, shallowness and ridicule, and rather concentrate on evangelism, social constructivism, technological literacy, knowledge expansion and other goodies brought by the social media.
Other awardees at the event were Evang. Uduak Akpan, James Edikan and John Jima; Award of excellence in gospel ministration, Rev. Samuel Jonah, Award of Excellence in Church Advisory; Pst. Kemy Wonder, Gospel Music Production; Raymond Asuquo and Emmanuel Eyo (Kufreima), Movie Acting; Kryz Flip, Gospel Audio Production and others.
The week-long activity featured song ministration, drama, quiz competitions, biblical 20 questions, Bible search and other soul-reviving activities.
