Patrick Udoh and the storm ahead BY EMMANUEL AKPAN

It is no news that the former First Bank Manager, Patrick Udoh after agreeing to a one year contract was named the new technical adviser of Akwa United Football Club of Uyo two weeks ago.

To those who may not know the new technical adviser, he is from Akwa Ibom State; he has been a manager of several football clubs within the country. Patrick Udoh is an experienced tactician who will bring his wealth of experience to bear and will spur Akwa United for a better performance next football season as well as ensure that the club picks the continental ticket.

Patrick Udoh was unveiled alongside the new Akwa United Chief coach, Emmanuel King, James Etokebe, Assistant coach, Moses Effiong, Goalkeeper trainer and Aniefiok Uboh, the physical trainer.

The crew was carefully selected based on their track records and they are to work collectively for the interest of Akwa United FC.

Chief Isong Isang who is the chairman of Akwa United Board while unveiling the new technical crew had charged the crew to do their best to make sure that the club picks the continental ticket next football season. He said the board decided to settle with the indigenous coaches as well as give them a chance to bring in their skills to develop the Uyo based side. He appealed to the people of Akwa Ibom State to support the new technical crew for them to achieve their targets which is total success for the club.

According to the board chairman, “they were carefully selected having known their experience in football, we will try to do what is right and we will do it to the best of our knowledge”.
Also Patrick Udoh while responding on behalf of the technical crew had promised that he alongside other technical crew will not disappoint the State club and will make sure that Akwa United FC goes a long way in the Nigerian professional league come 2013/2014 football season. He thanked the board of Akwa United Football Club for giving him the opportunity to contribute his quota to the development of football in the State.

We all know that Patrick Udoh was based outside the State, now that he is back to lead the Uyo based side to the next football season, some tough challenges awaits him.

My dear Coach Patrick Udoh, we supporters of Akwa United Football Club are very happy on your appointment. But please beware that if you do not live up to expectations, you will be shown the exit door. We are authoritatively informed that 21 players were retained after the end of last season and that you have promised to bring in qualitative and experienced players that will improve the standard of the team. I will humbly suggest that you try to recruit indigenous talented players who have the zeal but lack the connection to play for the Uyo based club. For the up front, please Coach try to bring in a deadly striker who will always deliver and also convert the little chances we have to goals. Also be aware that if you fail to give us good results, the same people singing welcome songs for you are those who will work for your downfall and will make sure you are sacked.

Don’t fail to understand that there will surely be some imposed players from those who called themselves the owners of Akwa United Football Club which you must feature in every match whether they are good or bad. Coach, please try to select your winning team and also try to win both away and home matches with good results. Everybody including the board and management of Akwa United will be happy as well as it supporters. Finally, try to establish your authority over the team and work in cordial relationship with your technical crew members so as to have the needed result and try to brief the media time to time on the development and progress of the team.
