Following the demise of the former political leader of Ikono Local government area, Prophet Monday Udoidiong and the determination of stakeholders to pick Senator Aloysius Etok as the next political leader for the area, it was gathered that, the governor on hearing about the plan felt threatened and mandated the commissioner for science and technology to thwart the effort.

A government house source who pleaded anonymity said that, the governor doled out millions of Naira to the commissioner in order for Aloysious Etok to be stoped

The governor was alleged to have supported the second term aspiration of Hon. Victor Udofia if he should join forces in order to ensure that the senator does not become the political leader of the area, but Udofia is said to have refused to oppose the National assembly member.

On why the governor is on the verge of thwarting the efforts of installing the senator, an aide to the commissioner said, ‘the governor knows that, if the senator is the political leader, he will use it as an edge to triumph and win the forthcoming senatorial race’

The issue has so far raised dust in the political terrain in the area such that if tempers are not controlled, hell may let loose. Efforts to get the commissioner comment on why he has allowed himself to be used against Senator Etok was not possible as he could not be reached on phone.
