AMAECOM Stars draws Media celebs in novelty match BY UBONG INYANG

AMAECOM Global  Limited stars rallied  late to earn a well deserved 1-1 draw against the media celebrities in an end of year novelty match played at the four towns secondary school pitch on Friday.

The Bassey Ibiatisuho led media celebrities took an early lead through Ubong Inyang of THE INK newspaper when he curled the ball past the helpless goal keeper from close range after being played through on goal by Maurice Etuk.

What followed thereafter was a barrage of attempts at the Amaecom penalty area by the media celebrities in search of the second goal and they failed to make good use of their chances notably from their goal scorer who shot wide from eight yards with the keeper at his mercy to the dismay of his team coordinator .
Series of substitutions from the AMAECOM stars saw the game swinging in their favour as they surged on for the equaliser and they were rewarded with eight minutes left on the clock much to the dismay of their opponents.

The game saw a moment of controversy from the referee when on one occasion denied the media celebrities a penalty kick when a foul was clearly committed on their striker from the opposition defender.

Speaking after the final whistle, the media team coordinator, Emmanuel Akpan, lamented his side’s inability to put the game to bed and gave kudos to the AMAECOM stars for showing resilience. “My brother, I am highly disappointed. I wanted my team to win this game but unluckily for us the referee played a role in denying us victory but we hope to defeat them next year’’.

In attendance was the Managing Director / CEO of AMAECOM global limited Dr Marcel Ofomata and all the branch managers. After a warm hand shake with both teams, he congratulated and thanked the media celebrities for honouring the friendly encounter.

He also presented cash gifts to both teams through the team captains and reiterated his desire to once again battle the media celebrities the coming year.
