Gov’s wife fetes groups, ors on Christmas

In the spirit of the yuletide season, the wife of the state Governor Mrs. EkaetteUnoma Akpabio has once again showered love to the women of Akwa Ibom State through donations of  food items, wrappers, and cash gifts to help them  have a fun-filled celebration.  

First to  receive the largesse of Her Excellency were the PDP women leaders from the three senatorial districts of the state. Speaking at the event held at the Government House Banquet Hall, the wife of the state Governor Mrs. Ekaette  Unoma Akpabio said the get-together was a token from her to female politicians for the love and support they have been showing to the administration. Mrs. Akpabio while giving out the gifts charged  the women to always remain united irrespective of their differences stressing that women politicians have what it takes to make the society a better place.

In their goodwill message,  the PDP women leaders from the three Senatorial Districts poured encomiums on the wife of the Governor for her motherly love towards the women. Speaking, Dr. (Mrs.) Sarah Esit Ikot on behalf of the Uyo Senatorial District described the actions of Her Excellency as extraordinary. She noted that Mrs. Akpabio had through her humane leadership style taught the women of the state how to love and promised on behalf of the women to toe Her Excellency’s path. ‘’You have shown us the way  to live and this we will do from today. Where ever you want us to go, will not hesitate to follow you’’ she pledged.  the senatorial district unalloyed loyalty to  the governor and wife. 

Speaking on behalf of Eket and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts, Mrs. Selena Hanson and Mrs. Regina Udoma also appreciated the wife of the Governor living up to the spirit of the Christmas season which is all about giving. They also expressed gratitude to the administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio for the opportunity he has given the women to serve in various key positions in the state. The women pledged their support and loyalty to the Governor come 2015 and beyond. Present at the event were party stalwarts at national and state levels such as the PDP zonal woman leader, Mrs. Elizabeth Eshiet, PDP state woman leader, Mrs. Glory Effiong, State PDP Treasurer, Deaconess OwoidigheEkpoatai and the state PDP financial secretary, Hon. Victoria ImeThomas. Also present were female political office holders, wives of Local Government Chairmen and wives of legislators. 

Mrs. Akpabio also had a Christmas get-together with women of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. The women led by Mrs. Regina Udoma also pledged their continued commitment to the Akpabio administration and promised their unalloyed support to the governor’s Senatorial bid.  

In a related development, the wife of the Governor, Mrs. EkaetteUnoma Akpabio has also showered gifts ranging from food items and wrappers to wives of traditional rulers in the state.  Speaking at the event, Mrs. Akpabio thanked the women for being good mothers and grandmothers of the land, adding that the administration holds the women elders in high esteem for their role in maintaining peace and unity in the state.  She solicited for a more peaceful society in the remaining months of the administration and even beyond pointing out that without peace there can be no meaningful progress.
