2014 World Radio Day: A review BY PRISCILLA CHRISTOPHER

The Radio has no doubt been a veritable source of information delivery to man from time immemorial. It unifying educative, informative and entertaining role all together has given it a pride of place in the communication industry with it mechanical ability to cover a vast populace of the federation giving it more credence than other means of communicating. No doubt, the ability of the Radio to create homogeneity of a heterogeneous audience is unbeatable and cannot be compared to other mediums. 

This electronic medium of audio communication reflects human performances and brings messages into the homes and minds of the listeners, creates awareness of what is happening within and outside a given society and presents ideas and bases for future historical records.

Nto Otong village wins MIDIM Unity Cup BY EMMANUEL AKPAN


Nto Otong village have  emerged the winning team of the 2013 Midim Football Unity Cup Competition.

Nto Otong won the tournament after beating Nto Obo Village, 3-2 on penalties shoots out after playing 90 minutes and the result ended 1-1 draw at the Comprehensive Secondary School, Midim, Abak Local Government Area.

Presenting the trophy to the winning team, the chief host and the organizer of the competition, Chief (Dr.) Nkereuwem Etukudoh said his aim at the yearly competition was to develop sports from the grassroots as well as discovering talented players through the competition in Midim Clan of Abak L.G.A.

AMAECOM Stars draws Media celebs in novelty match BY UBONG INYANG

AMAECOM Global  Limited stars rallied  late to earn a well deserved 1-1 draw against the media celebrities in an end of year novelty match played at the four towns secondary school pitch on Friday.

The Bassey Ibiatisuho led media celebrities took an early lead through Ubong Inyang of THE INK newspaper when he curled the ball past the helpless goal keeper from close range after being played through on goal by Maurice Etuk.

What followed thereafter was a barrage of attempts at the Amaecom penalty area by the media celebrities in search of the second goal and they failed to make good use of their chances notably from their goal scorer who shot wide from eight yards with the keeper at his mercy to the dismay of his team coordinator .

Saturday, 12th October, the Pop singer awarded a youngster Bello Moshood Abiola who likes to call himself Kiddy $3000 (N480,000) as the winner of his ‘Skelewu‘ dance competition.
