Startimes Uyo office conducted the
week 4 draws to give more of their customers a chance to win in their ongoing
3rd Anniversary Promo that is currently taking place in sixteen states of
Nigeria plus Abuja. The draw which was conducted at the company’s headquarters
along IBB Way, opposite the Ibom e-library on Thursday 15th August, 2013, saw
two new winners emerging, bringing the number of winners now to eight.
Taking the participants through
the drills of the draws, the systems manager of Startimes Uyo office, Mr.
Collins Ibor, showed the participants that every subscriber who either bought
the decoder or has recharged their own within the week with up to N3, 000 stood
a chance of being selected. The smartcard numbers of all the qualified
subscribers were uploaded into a blank computer page, these numbers were
randomized and a lucky number was randomly selected which made the owner of the
number an automatic winner of either an L.C.D. 24 inches StarTimes television or
a CRT 21 inches StarTimes television.
High point of the event was the
presentation of the 1st prize of an L.C.D. 24inches StarTimes television by the
managing director of StarTimes Uyo office, Mr. Matthew Ojemaye, to Mr. Golomone
Ulysses, a youth corps member from Bayelsa State who won the draws last week.
The second prize winner of last week, Mr. Ukeme was unavoidably absent but he
sent words that he would like to come and get his gift himself as this was a
unique opportunity in one’s life as one does not win a prize every day.
In the new draws, Mr. Israel
Udofia of Itu Local Government Area emerged the first prize winner of an L.C.D.
StarTimes television. He was picked by Mr. Golomone Ulysses. The second prize
winner was picked by the serving beauty queen of University of Uyo, Miss
Ekemini Idiong. Mr. Michael Etim of Idoro Street in Uyo emerged the second
prize winner of a C.R.T. StarTimes television.
Mr. Golomone Ulysses, after
receiving his prize expressed his joy for what StarTimes is doing by giving back
to the society. “I was very surprised when I received a call from StarTimes
that I have won in the promo, this is because I just bought the decoder the day
before so I thought it was a joke or a scam, that someone was trying to dupe
me. But when they called a second time, my fellow youth corps members told me I
should come and see if it is true and today I have received the television. I
say thank you to StarTimes for what you have done and I call on those yet to
buy StarTimes to buy and enjoy this digital life as they too can stand a chance
of winning like me”, he said.
The managing director of StarTimes
Uyo Office Mr. matthew Ojemaye in a vote of thanks thanked all the participants
for finding time to come out and witness the draws and urged them to continue
to patronize StarTimes as there are still four weeks to go in the promo draws.
He also added that “StarTimes is like Globacom, we make our services to cut
across board so that anybody can afford access to our products and services.
By
products I mean our decoders and television which has in-built decoders inside.
Though the in-built decoders cannot be used now because the services are not
yet activated in Uyo but very son it will be activated alongside our mobile
services and G.P.S. services where one can use their mobile phone and car
monitors to access our services. These services are currently being enjoyed in
Lagos and Abuja.”
Meanwhile, StarTimes won the 2012
Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Award as the best pay digital channel provider in
Nigeria which proved its excellence and originality in the pay TV industry in
Nigeria.
