Nse Ubeh’s ambition falls again

Nse Ubeh’s ambition falls again
Nse Ubeh
For the umpteenth time, the ambition of the embattled International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio to succeed Sam Ikon as the member representing Etinan State Constituency at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly have suffered a major blow as youths of Etinan Local Government Area have vowed to frustrate his ambition.

The anger of the youths stemmed from an alleged arrogance of Ubeh whom the youths said led to the almost lost of Etinan to the opposition ACN during the last councillorship election in one of the wards of the area were Ubeh hails as the youths said the International President of MMI was locked in anti party activities.

Our reporter was informed that Nse Ubeh had always lost elections in Etinan and will lose again if he dares contest the forthcoming 2015 House of Assembly polls.  It was gathered that during the last Local Government elections, Nse Ubeh had sponsored one Basil Inyang from Ndon Eyo for the councillorship of Etinan urban ward 4.  Basil Ikpe is said to have been a teacher in one of the Government schools in Etinan and he had to resign to contest that poll.

Ubeh’s action is said to have come after Ndon Eyo’s village council had met and adopted one Nse Ikpe as the sole candidate for the councillorship.  Ikpe is said to have been an easy sale for the youths and elders of the ward which has four villages, Ndon Eyo, Edemekpat, Ikot Inyang Ossom and Ekpene Obo.  The four villages that constitute this ward are said to have adopted Nse Ikpe.
But reliable sources told THE INK that Nse Ikpe was threatened by Ubeh to step down without any reasons.  Ubeh is alleged to have promised Ikpe hell especially as the former is a member of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio which the later presides over as the International President.  Nse Ubeh is said to have had his way as Ikpe fearing for his life had to pull out of the councillorship race even when he was already given the backing by the major and relevant stakeholders of the ward.

A very reliable source said Ubeh when confronted had told the people that the Governor, Godswill Akpabio had directed that he should take charge of the ward.  In Ikpe’s place, Ubeh is said to have imposed Basil Inyang on the people.  An imposition that was vehemently resisted and Inyang lost to Eno Okoko, the lady who is today the representative of Etinan urban ward 4.  Eno Okoko hails from Ikot Inyang Ossom.

Meanwhile, the MMI big man after the loss of Basil Inyang during the PDP primaries is said to have thrown his weight behind the Action Congress of Nigeria candidate Akan who hails from Edemekpat.  Ubeh is alleged to have sponsored most of the expenses of the ACN Akan in order to defeat his party person Eno Okoko.  But the youths had solidly backed the woman candidate who also defeated Akan to the utter embarrassment of Ubeh.

One of the youths who spoke with our reporter has argued that Ubeh’s failure to install a councilor in his ward is an indication that he won’t have headway in his ambition to take over the Assembly seat from Sam Ikon who is eyeing the National Assembly by 2015. The Etinan State Constituency seat will be contested in an open ballot where everybody will see. one of the youths told our reporter.  Ubeh’s candidate at the last councillorship polls Basil Inyang has since been employed to teach at Mboho Unity Schools in Idu Uruan after his failure to pick the ticket.
